Carolina Hurricanes Playoffs

It may be the only team in our state to win a professional championship in my lifetime. I am convinced the Hornets will NEVER win a chip in the 50 or so years I may have left, and we will see how the Panthers fare under Tepper.

I'm not even sure if they get past the first round in the next 50.

The future looks very very bright and yes they have our only championship, but before last year this was a team that went a decade without making the playoffs... Other than the Cup win, have the Canes actually been any better than the Panthers? Of course a championship goes a long way.

Hiring Rod Brind Amour was the best thing they did.

Jordan does not care about winning as an owner. They will not be successful with him as an owner.

I am extremely concerned that Tepper ends up as a Snyder/Jones meddling owner. I seriously hope I am way off base with that.

Its extremely hard for small market teams in the NBA, now more than ever. For a fan of a small market NBA team, winning a championship realistically can't be your hope.  Just have to hope your team puts a good product out there.

It is hard but not even close to impossible. It is impossible to succeed with Michael Jordan being involved in basketball operations and roster decisions. Ask the Wizards or the Bobcats about that. In both cases he played a critical role in the mismanagement. He is objectively an atrocious owner and an even worse judge of basketball talent.

We aren't going to be successful unless we end up with a bunch of top 3 draft picks in a row to where we just eventually don't fug that up.

I don't disagree with Jordan mismanaging the Hornets.  On a side note, the NBA will find a way to screw us out of top 3 pick 3 years in a row even if we had the worst record

Yeah, the lottery system is just completely moronic, even if you remove the air of impropriety about it. No other league uses it because you want your bad teams to at least have a shot to get better. The NBA apparently does not. I cannot fathom how that is a net positive for the league.

On the other hand.....we would still fug it up. In fact we have already fuged up previous top 5 picks. We need a lot of them in a row. The most maddening thing is that the Hornets seem dead set on what we as Panthers fans grew to hate about our last two coaches, the acceptance of mediocrity. Well the Hornets actively strive to stay mediocre. We don't tank and we sign just enough talent to fight for a spot in the playoffs but never enough talent to actually win in the playoffs. It's INSANE.

Who would believe it Hockey would become the most successful professional sports franchise in the Carolinas. Yeah I didn’t either.

Certainly not all the Canadians who still think the team should be moved to Quebec City... The triangle loves them some Canes, especially now that we’re good again.

For those more in the social media know than I on the canes, what’s up with Dougie? I thought he had practiced in training camp and with the team leading up to this series. I know he was a scratch for game 1, but now 2 & 3 according to the projected lineups today. Is it still his leg, just wanting to ride the current lines or is there something else going?

From what I know, he was showing signs of discomfort at practice before this series, and left the ice. I believe he’s skating again and could possibly be back next series.

The NHL’s policy allows them to be more closed lip on injuries, so it’s not always easy to know the full extent of what’s going on and/or when to expect someone back.
