Well the Canes called up a lot of players this season more then last. Also the Canes have one of the deepest farms in the league.  Even with the call ups the Checkers had many NHLers on their roster due to the Canes.

Also I dont think the Checkers were too pleased with the Canes trading a lot of the Checkers good players to upgrade their roster. A defensemen, for instance, like Jake Bean could bring in serious veteran NHL talent.

In essence, I dont think they liked being treated like a farm team.

also the owner of the Checkers is a minority owner of the Canes that Dundon may very well buy out in the next year or so, thanks to his purchase option when he bought the team. so it could be ownership group drama, as well. Dundon has established a culture of extreme hardline negotiation since he took over, so I assume a line was drawn in the sand at some point, and here we are.

Bad penalties. That was our big problem last game too and we were lucky we didn’t allow any PPG. Not sustainable.

Ya rangers are way more chippy than last time but they aren’t getting called and are mostly clean. We can’t let them win that fight.
