Panthers released DE Chris Smith.

The 28-year-old lasted only four months in Carolina. Smith made nine forgettable appearances for the Browns last season before getting released. With roster sizes limited this summer, Smith is in a tough spot as he waits for another team to take a flier.

I think he is from West Rowan High--unless my names are mixed up.  I did not like the signing, fwiw, and it means we might feel good about the following strong side DEs (all weigh 265, fwiw):

  • Gross Matos  (excited about this pick)
  • Obada
  • Weatherly

That means, I am guessing, that we are going to run some wide 9 with the WDEs:

  • Burns
  • Haynes
  • Miller

On paper, I see it.

Greg Little on the injured list.

What an awful pick he was and a guy a bunch of us said we couldn’t stand before the draft. We could have had Bobby Evans (starting RT for Rams) and Erik McCoy (probably perennial pro bowl C for the beloved Saints) instead of Little. So dumb and we had both of those guys in for private visits. SMH. Anyone with half a brain that watched Little at the combine walked away thinking he was not going to be good in the NFL. Another 1 guy draft. Burns and nobody, awful considering we had an extra 3rd.

Gotta love that the Saints got two quality starters with only 2 picks(48 and 105) in the same time the Panthers had 6 picks. The Saints even got as much from just their UDFAs as the Panthers did their whole draft.

But, once again, being right about this team’s incompetence was just shrugged off as being “negative”.
