This isn't difficult to understand. No player wants to opt out and miss out on money and opportunity to fulfill a life long dream. If they do opt out, it is for a very good reason and should be respected.

It's a tragedy when they bring home a torn ACL and everyone in there family and community gets it.

It is difficult for some people to grasp. I suppose this is a factor in why we are struggling with this virus. The inability to see beyond the individual.

I haven’t been able to opt out of work since March. Neither has my wife who works in childcare. Unfortunately.

That’s how it is this season. They are already partial members but don’t want to sign with a conference because of the revenue sharing. 
 

If ND won’t commit fully to ACC in FB, I don’t know how long this partial membership thing with them will last, ACC will add one or two more teams. It’s gonna happen eventually. Geographically speaking West VU makes a lot of sense but academically speaking they are below the standard that the ACC has in place so they are out. Rutgers, UConn, Cincinnati are three teams I would keep an eye on and maybe Temple

There has always been an exception for Notre Dame, and its one of the reasons why I love to hate them.  Even the original BCS format said big conference teams only, then had in the fine print (except Notre Dame).

Sort of off topic. I run around a park in the morning that houses the practice fields for a local high school. The teams has started some form of practice this week (or recently). There are a good number of parents sort of observing and spying that I have never seen before. I saw one father (who looked like he probably played) watching and looking very nervous or stressed about it. Another father drove by and asked what precautions they were taking and how it was being organized.  I got the impression they were quite worried. 

I don't know how or why they are trying to have a high school season.  It is understandably very important for some who have hopes of playing further but in the big picture it doesn't seem worth it.
