Jets agree to trade All-Pro safety Jamal Adams to Seahawks

It seems most big name trades are vastly one-sided.

A safety that mainly functions as a box version, who is demanding a 20 million per in 2 years..... is worth THAT HAUL?!?!?!

I didnt know Bill O'Brien became seahawks GM since the draft. That group also has spend prime draft capital on safties too. This is a team killer trade, about as bad as Hopkins one.

Adams is much more than a box safety. He’s awesome in coverage.

that said, he’s still nowhere near worth what Seattle paid for him. I’d be hard pressed to give a single first for him knowing the impending contract situation.

When you got Russell you can make moves like this.

A great QB allows this, and keeps you in contention for awhile

Not really. They haven’t done poo since Wilson got paid, mainly because they’ve made too many moves like this and haven’t drafted well at all since those loaded defense drafts in early 2010s

So his rookie contract ended in 2015, their record since then 10-5, 9-7, 10-6, and 11-5.  Playoffs 3/4.

If that is "haven't done poo" then what is our franchise?

What do they have to show for it? 3 playoff wins, no year with more than 1 and only 1 division title (10-5-1 record won them the division in 2016 which is quite pitiful).

You can perhaps see the logic from both sides. And there's a reasonable chance when looking back in 5 years that none of the 3 picks that the Jets take will pan out. But I have a tough time believing the Jets wouldn't have taken far less. McDougald plus 1 first should have gotten the job done. I'm sure the Jets postured for more but I would've called their bluff and stood firm. There's no precedent for that much draft capitol for a safety, let alone a disgruntled one looking to reset the safety market.

Way too steep. I knew someone would overpay but that is way too much for a Safety. And then to pay him $20 million a year or more next year? Ugh. I would rather have those rookies on rookie deals and play in the free agent waters of over payment.

The funny part is that the picks won't be top 10 so the Jets are likely to completely whiff on the picks when the talent level falls down a step or two.

Made too many moves like this, yet they haven’t had a losing record since 2011. They have missed the playoffs once since then, and that was a 9-7 season.

They have been a model franchise since Russell took over. Lol, if they haven’t done poo, then what have we done ever? Winning a Super Bowl is tough as hell.

No doubt about his coverage skills, hes also great at blitzing. Hes a great young safety. He plays best as a LB moving around, while still having great coverage skills. My main issue, well besides the HUGE incoming contract is his position. When a play is happening(non-ST) 11 vs 11, the spot with the the least value on the field is safety. Its not close, unless the offensive has a FB on the field.

Over the years its one of the things I agreed with, panthers dont value the safety spot.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
