So owners are pushing for more immediate cap relief, cutting 10 million from the cap this year. Players want to spread it over 10 years when they will have already gotten paid and screw those young guys.

 

Good news is the Panthers are already 10 million under the cap, so they are fine as is. What will be funny is when other teams scramble to restructure veterans salaries (cough cough Tampa Bay cough)

If they do it, it won't hurt teams to start the season.  Where it is going to hurt is during the season.  When guys get hurt and they have to have cap room for injury replacements.  Instead of teams having 12 or 15 million in cap room they got 2 or 5 million and if a lot of guys get hurt early it's possible you see teams that simply don't replace injured guys because they don't have the cap room.

Good thing the Panthers will replace players with vet minimum guys this year.

Can we just call this year a scrimmage and just enjoy anything we can get? Easy for us but painful for teams like the Saints, which is just a huge bonus to this Dookie pie we are being served called 2020.

Buccaneers: -5,300,000

Chiefs: -5,200,000

Rams: -4,800,000

Steelers: -4,600,000

Cardinals: -4,200,000

Raiders: -4,000,000

Ravens: -2,500,000

Patriots: -1,500,000

Falcons: -1,500,000

Saints: -1,300,000

Cowboys: -650,000

Vikings: -180,000

With that list we should probably cut it 15 million just to be safe.

Is there a hard source for the 10m yet?  I have been reading the NFL is projected to lose billions and the players want to spread that over 10 years vs taking it all in one year.  I am not getting how the math works either way.  1billion in one year / 32 is 31million a team.

The salary cap is calculated based on the revenue. So it's not just about spreading the loss in revenue among teams. It's about plugging the reduced revenue in to the model that calculates the cap.

I'm not sure any but that has never really been the point. There have been family members of professional athletes to die. People seem to completely miss the point when it comes to forcing less at risk populations to do things for someone else's politics.  Regardless of athlete or children deaths it's a mechanism for spread.

Canada didn't bar the Blue Jays from playing in Canada to protect the Blue Jays. They did it to stop influx of cases it would facilitate.

      If my reply comes off argumentative, that is not my intention so please don’t take it as such.  You said one word, probably subconsciously, in your post that immediately disqualifies him from being a QB in the NFL. You actually said it twice. Kid. It’s exactly how you see him, and exactly how the rest of the entire NFL sees him as well.  Yes, he is a kid, he looks and acts like a kid and that exactly IS the problem. The NFL is for grown ass men. Period. Hell, our kicker looks like he collects ‘taxes’ as a side hustle. These are straight dudes. Men.  Nothing in his persona changed from last year to this.  Nothing in his physical stature. Nothing. He has shown 0 development. 0. And he disrespects the entire organization, talking video games and Netflix in the offseason. Bro. Really. My man Chuba is busting his ass to look good for his second contract. Set himself up for life. How many RBs make it to even sign contract #3? First 2 games he has to run in to a brick wall continuously because Netflix can’t even get it over the LOS.  He’s a kid who pulled off the biggest heist in world history. He looks happier on the sideline goofing around than he ever has looked on the field. It’s time to cut bait.

      I hear you and I can imagine it's frustrating as a fan, but UNC-CH leaving the ACC would be throwing away over a century of history. It would really suck if y'all, or Clemson, or any of the other remaining charter members leave. I still think it sucks that Maryland left as well. Feels so wrong not having that rivalry anymore. Maryland fuging hated us and I loved it. Who's Maryland's rival now in the big 10? Rutgers? lol. Also, I think that the Heels are more likely to be Kentucky 2.0 than you are to get serious about football upon joining the SEC. Both UNC (and also Duke's) administrations seem very stuck in their ways with sticking to their ways and remaining basketball powerhouses. I do wish we could see NC teams actually competing in my favorite sport sometimes but alas. I personally value keeping our history intact over trying to become top flight CFB programs because nowadays it's just a pay to win sport anyways. Even if UNC-CH got serious I doubt they could compete with that Texas oil money, or that Oregon nike money, or that USC rich kid money. That's all top level college football really is anymore. You're either an established blue blood or you're willing to waste tons of money that could be spent on education rather than football.

      Maybe a move to the SEC forces UNC to be more serious about football?   I mean we should be making noise in the weak ACC and we can't even do that. How is Duke better than UNC in football right now? It's honestly sad and pathetic.   It doesn't matter if we get another great QB as you said a QB doesn't mean you have a great roster. A QB can only do so much. We lack elite guys in the trenches. That's how you build a program. It starts up front.
