The Rhys Lloyd field goal-kicking era may begin this Sunday

He attempted it in college and was by and large awful. Theres a reason he has never had an opportunity in the NFL. I think his college % was 65ish.

Lloyd was the placekicker, kickoff man and punter for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2003 to 2004. Rhys was also a two-time All-American placekicker for Rochester Community and Technical College. He was famous for his rugby-style punting, amazing concentration under pressure and long-distance field goals. Teammates referred to Lloyd by the nickname "Winston Churchill", after the English prime minister who led the United Kingdom through World War II. Lloyd is best remembered for a 42-yard field goal in the dying seconds of the 2003 Sun Bowl to beat the University of Oregon 31-30.

But he rocked Technical College! lol

And? He missed 35% of the FGs he attempted. Theres a reason he has never been given a shot to do it in the NFL. Not a slight on him, hes just apparently not very good at it.

John Kasey this year 6 FGM/ 9FGA or 66%. I think Father time is finally starting to catch up to Kasey he seems to be missing the ones he use to make look easy. It may just be a Funk or he could be done who knows. Either way we need to see if Lloyd can be as much of a weapon at FG as he is a KOS.

His leg is strong enough, but I wonder if he can get a comparable amount of power into his kick when lined up to kick a FG as compared to getting a running start and demolishing the ball. If he can, he might be able to shatter the 63 yard record.

Assuming he can work on his accuracy, which I assume is lacking since Kasay is on the roster.

Well honestly that was then and theis is now. Give lollyd one game. You never know what might happen. Kasey is most likly will play. But you never know.

Both John Kasay and Tony Fiammetta traveled with the team to New Orleans.

Let's hope they are both able to play Sunday.

You don't even know how to spell the one player that has been here since the start of this franchise.......so please STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me at the amount of people that pretend to know so much, yet have no clue at how to spell the players name on the team they supposedly root for. :nonod:

One of those was blocked. The other two came in the Buffalo game. Every kicker is entitled to a bad game. But for the LOVE OF GOD, CAN YOU PLEASE SPELL HIS NAME RIGHT!! I'm so sick of seeing people spell it wrong. He's only been on the team for 15 seasons.

Well excuse me for spelling accidentally spelling a Kicker's name wrong. Oh my gosh I used a e instead of an a. Go play in traffic. BTW who spells KasAy with an a anyway.
