REPORT: Panthers looking at 25% capacity for Bank of America Stadium

With all the varying city, county and state guidelines across the country, I just don't see fans in the stands as being realistic. The NFL can't allow some teams to have fans and other clubs fans excluded based on what the local municipalities stipulations are on crowds.  It's a pipe dream.  There will either be a season without fans in the stands or no season at all.   Too many variables to pull off any other scenario.

I would imagine that most PSL owners will go for the refund vs allowing the team to hold the money and count it towards next years tickets. If that is the case I wonder how much money Tepper will lose this season with minimal attendance

The TV deal money will keep him afloat.

They are going to.

What are they waiting on?  Full attendance is not happening.  Start the refund process already for those wanting it.  I would say at least 25% of PSL holders will rollover their tickets, so it's not like the team will be scrambling to fill the 25% capacity if that's actually allowed (probably won't happen anyway).  I get it, it is a poo-ton of money to let go of, BUT for a service we will NOT be getting, so they have no right to hold on to it any longer.

Whoever holds the money gets the interest.

NFL still being extremely optimistic. Can't blame them really. There likely won't be a season but if things improve dramatically over the next few weeks, maybe, just maybe

You know the NFL(their sponsors and networks) do not care care and it will take a government(state levels most likely) to shut them down. That’s another big issue, oh hey, California, Washington etc say they can’t play. They’ll pull a NBA and move it to a more forgiving state.

Right now I’m on the fence. We as a people clearly did not beat this virus when we should have. So I’m of the opinion more and more the season will be toast as days go on. But I also know the NFL wants it’s money and a certain “person A” in government would throw a shitfit if the NFL wasn’t going on during the lead up to this years election. So all bets are off for now.

Yeah, it sucks. I think most reasonable, smart folks realize this. Our country had an opportunity to fight this virus but obviously failed miserably.

No, it didn't.  Americans are a different breed.  No amount of restriction would have stopped Americans doing from what Americans do.  No politician, no law, no anything would have stopped exactly what is occurring right now, and in fairness, what is occurring right now is being as blown out of proportion as any single event in the entire history of the world.

This will be the most ignorant and dumbest post on here today. Before noon. Well done!

100%.  Deaths are way down compared to several months ago. The only reason cases are up is tons more testing.  But we are playing politics with every little topic nowadays.

Seems like they’re waiting for the NFL to make some official statement/decision on it. And/or possibly holding out hope that the situation in NC changes. It’s possible yesterday’s extension of phase 2 might expedite their decision. I honestly don’t think they’re doing anything to be sneaky. Everyone is trying to figure out the proper way to handle this.

I’ll see if I can find out more today....

EDIT: email with options sounds like it’s going out tomorrow.

Thanks, I should have saved the article because I scour the web so much I can't remember where I saw it, but I think it was five teams have already committed to no fans or a low percentage (if allowed).

I don't think they are being sneaky as much as collecting the interest on the money until they have to give it back.  They don't have to give it back (for those who want a refund) until an official statement from the government (Federal, state or local) or the League forbidding large gatherings of excess size.  They could wait until the day of each game to refund hoping things could progress week-to-week.  That last scenario, it would really pi$$ me off.

The only relevant statistic that no one pays attention to is ventilators.  If you have a serious case of Covid, you're on a ventilator. All the other stats are being toyed with.  Guess what's happening with ventilator stats?  Plummeting.
