I know that a lot of people are trying to make this work...given the state of things...just do not see how it will.

We’ll find out soon with the MLB, NBA and NHL set to return within the month. If they pull it off, the NFL will as well.

Cooper was a 1st team all pro return man in 2017. Extremely dangerous in the open field but I think had some issues with fumbles. Good signing and he’s got a good shot of grabbing the job.

I agree, I don't see how we will be able to social distance in any sport. But that doesn't stop football fans like myself from hoping and definitely not from discussing it on the Huddle...

Just read an article on Panthers.com discussing Panthers all-time kickoff return leaders. Michael Bates is #1 on the list,  #2 Steve Smith & #3 Rod Smart. Personally I remember seeing Mark Jones have some really good returns but not a lot of speed.

Who will be our Returners this season. I know that DJ Moore has returned a few but I don't know if I'd want to risk him getting injured on returns.

Do we have have a designated returner?

a returner with a prior history of fumble issues....

feels like we have seen that movie before.  the end of the movie was more fumbles if memory serves

Good ole Mark Jones.

He had some key returns for us in 2008.  I remember 1 game in particular and maybe 2 that we don't win that year without him.

I also remember he had some sort of injury and 1 leg was permanently atrophied bc of it.  He definitely was a 1 year wonder, but he was an underrated part of that 2008 team.

Just did a Wiki search and he holds a couple of franchise records from that year.  I know he didn't take one to house like Smitty or Bates did, but he was really good that year.

  • Yds/Kick Ret: playoffs (30.2), playoff season (30.2 in 2008)
  • Yds/Punt Ret: career (11.36)

We need one badly and have needed one for decades. Special Teams has always been a joke for the panthers.

Pretty much every year outside of 1996, 2003, 2005, 2008, & 2013 were not great, and many times putrid.

5 of out 25 (20%) is downright awful when you think about it

We brought in the Clemson kid last year.  Ray Ray.  Talented returner if holding onto the ball wasn’t part of the job.

Ok but that kid was never anywhere near the level of Cooper at his peak. And Cooper didn’t have any fumble issues his first year when he made all-pro, so I honk it’s correctable.
