Cam Newton calls out Panthers: 'You gonna choose that over this?'

Recommended Posts

Look, Teddy is getting paid very good money and some of the criticism isn't off (some is just nasty and not about him or football). He was put in a crap position but he also took the chance and the money, that doesn't excuse the beating he will continue to take but it isn't surprising. Pissed off and frustrated fan bases aren't known for their warmth. Bradbury got crapped on replacing Norman, even though he started day one and produced his years here. Oher was decent but a joke in comparison to Gross, sadly it didn't last longer. People lost their minds over the Smith debacle. If anything, this shows the lack of experience in the decision making department. They cut Cam once they signed Teddy, that's a decision that all of them, Ted included, will have to deal with the next couple of years.

That's it in a nutshell.

No one wants Teddy to fail. We want him to win MVP and bring us home a Lombardi. But...

A healthy Cam is an obvious upgrade. $20M to see if he could get healthy is chump change. The supporting cast on this offense is finally what we'd hoped for since around 2014 - I think most realized this team would only go as far as Cam took us by then. Unfortunately the team was built around the defense instead. And then we just cut him. Still under contract. Just release him. Just like that.

Honestly, the Panthers better hope and pray there isn’t a season this year because Cam is about to make the team look very, very stupid for releasing him.

Well we always look stupid so it’s nothing new

Not in real life. Maybe in some alternative dimension. But not in this one. And it's not even close.

Luke looked all world in the 43, until Ron, in his infinite wisdom, just started drafting guys, not knowing when and where and what system to use them in.

Teddy, could be alternative dimension good in the right system, or horrible beyond belief is not used correctly

Sorry bud, this isn't wrestling.  Just because a dude can lift weights in a gym and workout all the show muscles doesn't mean he is going to produce on the football field.  Fact is Teddy went 5-0 last season and Cam went 0-2.

Teddy played on a much better TEAM that won more games as a TEAM. This TEAM was horrible the last 2 seasons. Offense. Defense. Special Teams. No unit was been worth a dime or has been since 2015, but we conveniently blame wins and losses on Cam. Do you not remember the 2016 secondary? Or the 2018 pass rush? Or the entire friggin team in 2019? We had an average defense in 2017 and the TEAM went 11-5, and Cam almost willed a win against the Saints in the playoffs with a bunch of receivers that literally dropped the ball over and over again.

Yep. That’s the difference IMO.  Media PR ineptness from BOA aside, I suspect the team did not want to hitch the wagon to Cam for another contract as there were too many questions.
Overall I think Cam is in a good position And can succeed even tho vastly underpaid right now. Panthers are in a rebuild and TB is gonna take them thru the next couple years.

i don’t like what happened to Cam and will pull for him in NE but gonna get behind my team and TB.  Hope to have real football to talk about soon.

But you can't punish a guy for playing injured when you knew he was injured, but played him anyway so you wouldn't lose your job. Cam put it on the line for the team and got punished for it. That's BULL!

And injuries heal. It's 2020. Tua just had the same injury that ended the greatest athlete to ever play sports - Bo Jackson. And someone drafted him with a top 10 pick. World class treatment, rehab, and time will heal almost ANY injury in 2020. And we probably won't even have football this season, so that gives Cam even more time to heal. The FO just screwed this one up. It's ok for us to admit that.

I'll pull for Cam to have success, but I can't pull for NE in general. I know it sounds like a contradiction, but if NE runs back a kickoff to win a game I wouldn't give 2 craps. If Cam runs or throws a TD to win a game, then I'd cheer. That's the difference. At the end of the day though, there is no way I'd root for NE to beat Carolina. It ain't that serious.
