But every draft season 90% of this board talks themselves out of spending a first round pick on a OL.  Everyone becomes enamored with "sexy" picks.

2020 draft looked great at OT in the first. 2019 looked weak as hell at LT but was solid OG class. No draft is equal as far as positional talent and drafting on need and not reality gets you a Little that is irrelevant in year 2 with a late round guy fighting for a starting position over him. Example: I am very thankful we didn't go QB this year regardless. It wasn't an impressive year and looked like a waste of picks. Of course it's all opinion until they prove it over thr next 3 or 4 years.

Or run for his life in most seasons. We took the black Payton Manning and our era Brian Urlacher and shortened their careers by 7 years by not adding players most important around them.

This

onky Ron Rivera could have Kuechly AND Newton and not win a Super Bowl.

it took talent to do that

Agree with everything she says. Panthers pissed away a generational player and don’t have a SB to show for it. Also did him dirty by waiting to release him and lying about keeping him. Team is a joke.

This x1000! I've been saying that in this here site but the Tepper brown losers think it was all on the up and up.

Destroying just to destroy is STUPID. Despite the Wall Street success (a game that rewards inside info) dude has made terrible and destructive decisions.

We don't even recognize our own football team. If he could he'd change the name to the fighting Teppers.

Was a fan of ownership but they've made many too many obvious and avoidable errors.

God save the Panthers for they have dug their own grave.

and some of you don't want to see blatant mismanagement, that will completely make us look stupid.

Please tell me the last time bill brought upon a player that didn't help him succeed.

Now think, he has brought upon a fuging mvp qb, whose skill could easily be formed in a winning formula.

This management could cut off both of our legs, and you'll still say, "trust the process, i cant believe you guys aren't fans durr."

Dude Im not sure what kind of point you are trying to make.

Bill has swung and missed on plenty of prospects. You could even count Tom Brady in that category. If he knew that Brady would turn out to be the guy he is today then you could argue that they should have drafted in in the 1st round.

Signing Cam is a good low risk high reward move, but that is because Cam agreed to a massive pay cut. If he would have done that in Carolina he would still be here. Also he is a FORMER MVP. Its not like this is the end of the 2015 season and that is the Newton he signed. Literally only 1 team wanted him. Heck even Ron passed on him and he would know about his health better than anyone.

I hope Cam does well but as others have said, you cannot divorce the decision to move away from Cam with the fact that he wanted a new contract. Given that he sat in free agency for such a long time proves that this decision was correct.

My frustration is with people on this site that get so attached to a player that they would enjoy seeing the team suffer as a result - even when that decision had the best interest of the team in mind.

I wish Ron would have abandoned that approach since he nor the GM cared for building Cam an O-line. Instead they should have developed an offensive system that allowed Cam to move out of the pocket to negate the bad pass protection. I can count on one hand the # of times Cam ever rolled out to make a pass in 9 seasons with the Panthers.

Cam was 0-9 in his last 9 starts and hadn't been completely healthy in two years. Nothing beyond that narrative matters for a new regime. We already know the former regime handled the entire Cam era completely wrong. Time to move on.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
