You can’t even hate on this because she arguably knows the team better than anyone else on this board.

That is ridiculous... If she was so smart, she'd be a GM... And NFL teams would never hire a reporter as their GM......

Oh.... Wait

I’ve been a die hard Panthers fan my entire life but you can’t objectively look at this Cam situation and think we (Panthers) aren’t total idiots. This is worse than the Smitty situation.

Tepper is arrogant asshole and thinks he can do better than a healthy Cam Newton. And frankly he reeks of a guy that watches Colin Cowherd and lets it affect his decision making.

The best QB we’ve ever had. The best player to make the biggest impact. The one that could bring success quickly. And we use him up and trash him because the new owner thinks he knows better. Total bullshit.

Do you all realize only in this offseason we finally addressed LT? We finally signed a good free agent WR?   And we let Cam walk to sign a dude who is a fraction of his potential.

Wow the ball suck is strong in this one. Teppers worst decisions have had better results than your best ones there dude.

3 winning seasons in his career.  I think the team is going to be fine.

You think any other QB other then Newton would have propelled these teams to even those 3 winning seasons?  This team was dependent on him being great, as there was no other fail safe for 8+ years.

of course, its silly to think otherwise

Back that up with some sort of logic?  Remember two of those seasons he had no name WRs that were dropping the football left and right, and yet still brought them to 11-5, the other he had to be an MVP winner for them.

Are you referencing the 2013 Panthers where he had Steve Smith*, Greg Olson*, Mike Tolbert*, Meangelo Williams* and Johnathon Stewart* on offense?  *=Pro Bowler

Come on.

No one jumped on him because he's a starter and by the time the Panthers released him, every team already had their guy. No one wanted to bring him in as a backup because he would put too much pressure on the starter.

If he's playing in NE for peanuts on a 1 year prove it deal, why wouldn't he have played in Carolina for $20M on a 1 year prove it deal? Of course he isn't gonna just agree from the start. He wants more guaranteed money - like every other player - ever. But if they held tight and explained he had to prove himself, he obviously would have. He's doing it now.

We will never know but I tend to agree.

I totally understand not wanting to give Cam an extension.  Personally I would have slow played it though.  Basically, you tell Cam you would love for him to be your QB this year, but you were not comfortable doing an extension.  In the meantime he can look for a trade but you aren't going to deal him without receiving decent compensation.  I can understand not wanting to keep an unhappy player but I think you can put that off until later.

I think Cam and the team both totally misjudged the trade market.  Of course once we singed Teddy none of that matters because at that point you aren't keeping both.

Looking back there will definitely be some praise/blame to go around.  Pure speculation on my part, but misjudging the trade market feels like a front office responsibility.  Signing Teddy on the other hand feels like it was more heavily influenced by the coaches.

Until we have a franchise QB there is no where to move on towards. We treading water with a guy that hasn't played a 16 game season since Cam's MVP year and a coaching crew that may take a few years to get good enough for the NFL. We are here and ready but the team is not. That isn't on the fans.

Thank you

Teddy, who was released by the Saints full well knowing that Brees could retire at any moment. They chose a The Golden Calf of Bristol lite over Teddy B. Just saying...

Exactly right. Been saying this for months. Who know TB better than Sean P, and he let him go knowing Brees is retiring... lol

yet again, ole Sean outsmarts the Panthers.
