It was reported that he wanted a new contract.

Even if thats not the case, the fact that no one jumped on him for months after he was cut shows what the league actually thinks... which is good when healthy, but not healthy for a long time. No one wanted to take that risk at that price. His price came down, he became a low cost option. That is not the same situation that Carolina had - which is why he was cut.

i mean the 'commitment' video was about just that wasn't it?   he's great in the community, he's a good qb, he's made a lot of mistakes with social media as far as his career goes, and he's still acting like a giant toddler.  its going to be interesting to see how he and new england adapt to each other, to see if bill and the culture there can get thru to him, or if they give him the same leeway we did, or if there's some kind of merging.   i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it out of camp and i wouldn't be surprised if they win the sb with him.   its gonna be interesting to see though.

I try to ignore most players social media so I cannot comment too much about that.

Personally I think Cam should have just sat out this season and try to come back next season. This is a crappy off season to try to make a team. If he loses the starting spot healthy or not his career is likely over, so its a big gamble.

I also think that if he makes it the Patriots are not going to care about trying to preserve his career and will run him hard.

Honestly I think its super bowl or end of career for him. Big gamble for him.

Come on.

No one jumped on him because he's a starter and by the time the Panthers released him, every team already had their guy. No one wanted to bring him in as a backup because he would put too much pressure on the starter.

If he's playing in NE for peanuts on a 1 year prove it deal, why wouldn't he have played in Carolina for $20M on a 1 year prove it deal? Of course he isn't gonna just agree from the start. He wants more guaranteed money - like every other player - ever. But if they held tight and explained he had to prove himself, he obviously would have. He's doing it now.

I dont think its that simple. I guess first of all Cam was cut, he didn't walk away from the Panthers. But think about it logically. If Cam never asked for an extension why wouldn't they have rolled with him? The answer is his health. So they cut him because his play did not warrant his salary.

Could Cam have begged the team to keep him if he cut is salary? Maybe, but I doubt that was offered or suggested by either party.

I'm pretty sure Cam was going to paint himself as a victim no matter what unless the Panthers gave him a long term deal.

The guys has been 'Superman' and the best player on ever football team he has ever been on. So now being replaced cannot be easy, but thats the reality of sports for most people.

I am a Cam fan and but the way people are crying over him here is pathetic.

Everyone here complains about our FO and wants them to be tougher and smarter on the salary cap and the moment we do that they all lose their minds. Its annoying.

Wow! Jourdan is REALLY going in on the Panthers organization. No lies detected!

Been away from the huddle for 2 1/2 months, because quite frankly, I'm not sure how I feel about this organization anymore. Far too many shitty decisions the past couple years. Reading this post after being gone for soo long, is nice. 'Stars and bars' huddle, ruined the past couple of seasons with their Cam hate and agenda.

Agreed.

It's sad that their Cam hate and agendas were allowed to run rampant here.
