I wonder how many of the “real Panthers fans”(mind you, people that aren’t from Carolina, has other teams before the moved, and only became fans recently) would still say the GTFO stuff the new coach goes 1-16 for the next 3 seasons, gets fired for another 1-16 coach, trades away the best players he has in the process etc?

its ridiculous to say someone isn’t a fan because they are pissed off at their team.

as far as wanting a star to do better elsewhere including a Super Bowl— that’s a referendum on said anger.

 

at the same time... we go 16-0 and then win the Super Bowl I’m sure all is forgiven.... then all the band wagoners can cry they are “real fans”.

Also the best sports show is Dan Patrick which is on Youtube now. Never contentious and he makes unique points about the issues generally. And there isn't yelling.

Glad for Cam.  I was not expecting New England to pick him up, solely because their talk as of a month ago pretty strongly indicated they thought Stidham has a shot at being Tom Brady-lite.  Maybe they still do, who knows?  Not sure why, but then again I have not seen a single play with Stidham under center.  But, I got the impression they had Hoyer around only because he spent his first few years in the organization and was familiar with things. 

The Pats are kind of a mess right now, roster-wise and particularly on offense.  But, they have the advantage of being in a division that "kind of a mess" is usually enough.  We'll see if Buffalo gets over the hump this year or not.  Either way, the deal sounds low risk to everybody involved.  For Cam, he will see more head coaching in 3 days there than he saw here in 9 years here. 

I honestly thought Cam would wind up a Raider, even after they signed Mariota.  Chuckie made it sound like Carr was evil, and we all know how Chuckie's doghouse works.  But, on balance, Cam is better off being a Patriot than a Raider.  The Pats manage to find ways to turn questionable rosters into wins, while the Raiders tend to turn decent rosters into a struggle for mediocrity.

Good luck to him, even if it is with the Pats.  I hope he shows the NFL he has indeed returned.

Mildly surprised by this signing. Don't think Cam is a good fit for what the Pats have done on offense. Also think that Tom Brady covered up a multitude of flaws in that offense that Cam won't be able to. 

For those thinking that it shows Belichick's genius, I would point out  he signed A Brown recently. 

I do wonder about the conflicts that the refs are going to have- "Must protect the Pat's QB" vs, "Cam Newton is a RB" Going to be interesting to see how they resolve that. 

Assuming he's healthy enough to survive a years worth of pounding that every QB gets, which is hardly a given, but , assuming he's healthy, he certainly has the tools to succeed  in the Patriot system. 

I can see a comeback story where Cam wins a lot of games in NE under Belichick. You KNOW Belichick would love to win a super bowl without Brady.

Also think Cam could get cut in training camp because his body just can't hold up any more.

I hope they manage to play this season, lots of interesting story lines, including this one.
