I remember you dissed me last year for saying I wasn’t excited about the season and didn’t have a good feeling about it.

Now I am actually excited to see what the new regime is about.

A QB makes a huge difference, there were reasons for optimism all the way up until Allen was figured out.

Personally I never really follow a player once they leave Carolina. 

We’ve never had a homegrown franchise QB before. I definitely want him to do well and in a boom/bust season it’d nice to have reasons to watch football if the team busts. 

Plenty of players have come and gone but obviously some matter a lot more than others. In Newton’s case experiencing the amount of media hate and missed calls has left me resentful. Smitty leaving wasn’t as big of deal as his career was already pretty stellar, I just hope Newton can still put a few more good years together.

I think we are going to have an electric, YAC based offense.  Defense could be historically atrocious, could be somewhat decent.  All depends on how quickly the youngsters get up to speed.  

I am very excited to see what an NFL Joe Brady offense looks like.  

Also, look on the bright side - if we suck next year, we will be in the running for Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields.  Win-Win.

Like it or not, but Teddy B is almost perfect for the type of offense they want to run.  Short crossing routes, a poo ton of YAC and the occasional deep shot to keep them honest.  It would not surprise me if Teddy B had 4000 yards and 30 TDs this year.

If the defense can get a lot of turnovers I think it could help win games, but we won’t be able to field a “win in January” kind of unit for 1-2 years.

Excited?  A little...I guess, so many other things going on in my life right now, and football continues to slide down my list of things to do, or be excited about, unfortunately.

I would be really excited if we were doing things that made sense, instead we seem to be doing the exact same type things that we have seen the Panthers do for so long now.  They will make a good decision or two, and then make some of the most boneheaded decisions possible....it's frustrating more than anything.

Wait, maybe I am just totally frustrated with the team, and it's turning me off from from football?

It’s going to be interesting watching what happens if players start testing positive. Heard they would have to sit 2-3 weeks... what if 25% of your team has to sit?
