Basically imagine New Orleans the years they had their shitty defense and Teddy at QB instead of Brees and you have the 2020 Panthers.

This year maybe, but after this year I really do not see us being anywhere near as bad on D as the Aints were for many of those years. If these rookies progress like we hope, we make some smart FA signings on D along with another more heavy D draft in ‘21, I think we should be able to get to at the very least, league average by that season.

And although I like Teddy the person and really hope he does well, QB is a bigger concern for me going forward than our D. The D entered a full rebuild this year, which I think is a good thing. It was outstanding in 2013, generally solid in 2014, bend but don’t break in 2015 and solid in 2017 but outside of those years and since then it had been a huge disappointment. We really needed some fresh faces on D

All these negative whiners lol.  I’m excited about the team this year.  We will have some growing pains,  but should have a top 10 offense and a defense with some young exciting playmakers (Burns, Brown, YGM, Chinn, etc).  At least players will be fighting hard.

some of y’all who think we will lose every game or only win 2-3 are in for a nice surprise.  This team will win 6-8 games, mostly in the second half of the season as the youngsters get more comfortable in the system.  Another good draft next year and a few nice FA additions and this team is competing for the division next year.

Another fluff piece from a HC that hasn't coached a game for the team yet let alone run  a practice? Sounds expected and reasonable.

I'm just ready for us to have something positive of substance to talk about and less fluff and pompoms.

We've been unhappy with 6-8 win seasons. Why would that change now?

Our defense could and probably will be better than last year, (not setting the bar all that high I know).  Our offense likely will be better than last year, if Bridgewater can stay healthy.  Because he is better than Allen, Grier, or an injured Cam.

Completely different situation in a rebuild year with a new HC.

They said it isn't a rebuild. They said they plan to be competitive. The owner said he's unhappy with mediocrity.

I'm not here for the excuses. The new regime has already put their hands on this team.

The worse thing the panthers could do is finish with 6 wins. Especially if they were trying to rebuild.

Ah yes, all those organizations out there saying: "Yeah, we're going to suck, come buy season tickets and attend games."

Coaches and organizations seldom tell you the complete truth because they need to be able to sell tickets and sell people a future while also maintaining a good relationship with the players in the organization to make it an attractive locker-room to be apart of now and in the future.

Bitter fanboy take

In reality:

-Plans on the start of training camp to meet most players, has only met 20 so far. Hardest thing about virtual interaction with players is building relationships. Said he probably wouldn’t recognize a player if he saw him in person, which he said was weird.

-Excited Luke is coming to work with the Panthers, Luke apologized to Rhule thinking he was going to be on the team. Rhule says that’s just how life works and the team needs to move forward.

-Appreciated what Cam (and Olsen, Luke) has done. Always keeps in mind the future when making decisions and do so in getting Teddy. Stated he led a team to the playoffs a while ago and proved last year he showed he still had what it takes.

-Excited about Teddy. Players are positively responding to him, and taking to him well. Said he worked well in Payton’s system and working with Brady.

-Was impressed with Brady in NO and LSU.

- Is excited for the offense, namely Curtis, Moore newly required Anderson and CMC who can do it all.

-Stated only one player older than Brady who is 30/31. And described his team and not full of vets but young and fun who are learning.

-Didn’t mention much about defense but did say KK was a key player for it. Chuckled about the fact the drafted all defense for the first time in NFL history.

-Said it’s time for others to step up with key players leaving. Named a few players forgot them all, Boston and Shaq are two.

-Said Coughlin showed little emotion, met his wife who expressed them for him. Has a lot of respect for him.

-Said his cheesy Baylor vest was part of a team thing at Baylor and when he came here, the Panthers already had one made for him and he laughed and said “no, no that was a one and done thing at Baylor”. Said he sold his Baylor one at auction to a fan and donated the money. He wants to look like “everyone else” for this gig.

None of this I’m quoting, just watched once and typed this off the top of my head.

Personally I think it’s amazing how little support Rhule and Teddy get from our fans. It’s embarrassing.

Yea it’s another fluff piece. I’m not exactly sure what people expect from a first time coach who can’t even meet players in middle of a Pandemic. It’s better than nothing.

    • Kraven has awful shitty comic book movie vibes all over it. It's just more of whatever studio owns the rights to the Spiderman set, but no longer actually has Spiderman anymore. Wicked is probably no more enjoyable. 3 hour long musicals are tough to endure.
    • One of those guys who throws a pass that makes you yell "OMG" then immediately follows it with one that makes you go "WTF" 😳 Essentially the Brett Favre prototype...
    • The Giants games are an interesting comparison for sure. We could compare the Chiefs vs the Bucs as well, since at least both teams are largely the same as they are now, rather than the Giants whose coach lost his mind after losing to us. 30-24 KC in overtime. Hunt had 106 yards and Mahomes had 291. Baker threw for 200 yards, but 2 TDs. Their leading rusher had 25 yards or something. Our offense outperformed what the Bucs did vs KC, but being a division game we won't have the benefit of being overlooked. If our D plays how it did in the 4th quarter I think we can get some stops.  Can Bryce carry a second game? I'd rather not find out and have Chuba carry the load, but we'll see.
