I'm sorry but this is not reasonable.  Obviously the issues right now with racism in the police force are big issues to be addressed, but that doesn't make "stereotyping old white guys" any more acceptable than stereotyping any other group of people.  You don't get to ignore racist jokes or perceptions just because there are other bigger issues....that isn't equality.  If you seek equality then you seek it all day, every day, in every thing.  If a person is not racist then they never make racist remarks...not mostly and then every now and then it is OK if there is a more important issue.

That is like saying "well it was just a little joke" or "we'll let that one slide"....is that how it works in every direction?  How do you think all the non-racist old white guys feel about little jokes?  How about their kids....young white guys like me and my kids?  So just curious...if it is just a little joke does that make someone a little racist or a full racist?  I'm not accusing you of being anything - but that is way too cavalier for any of us to be - especially right now.  People are getting blasted for that type of cavalier commenting - even losing their jobs.

I am all for change - I am tired of this culture where you are either a racist or afraid of other races - that goes for every race.  I don't want my kids to grow up like that.  We have to be together and not allow any level of stereotypes and jokes to go by.

dude. "old white dudes gonna old white dude" is not racist.

it is insensitive to some old white dudes feelings.

edit: as to how "all non-racist old white guys feel about jokes about old white dudes being racist" - I imagine their responses range from not giving a poo, to caring enough to respond to a thread on the Carolina Huddle about a racist owner by defending old white guys.

As to this bolded part - I don't even know what his means - but in the interest of avoiding this thread going Full Tinderbox, I'll just say that stereotypes are bad but my goal was to point out how onmyown's post and contents has the same tone/tenor as dismissive whataboutisms that are most often thrown about as a way to distract/detract from real change.  But, as he said, that was not his intention and I am glad to see he and I straightened that out and I appreciate his note about considering how his words might be interpreted in the future.

Mav1234

apologies I quoted your post and meant to quote mcc-something.  His original post where someone is accusing JR of racial actions was in my opinion racist.  He said no surprise - old white dudes gonna old white dude.

No doubt JR was trash but that is still an offensive comment - no cause justifies jokes and stereotypes.

JAG

Example number 1,345,566 of why you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. ProFootballFocus just called him the most underrated safety in the entire NFL.

Any player that dares to speak up will be bad to him, or will need to “focus on football”.

Whats he’s saying is no different than what that Fox News reporter, Laura Ingraham, said.
“Just shut up and dribble”

Meanwhile, Brees has a right to speak up and to his opinion!!!1

Thats how quite a few on the main forum feel.

Total crap...you guys need to take your politics elsewhere

all we’ve seen of Boston is Russell Wilson burning him for TD after TD

he is average at best

Well, as I said years ago, I’m down for all politics out of football. You’re not, though.

No more anthem before games, military appearances, etc. It’s not fair to get rid of only the politics you’re against. Not everyone feels the same about the flag or military as you. Have some empathy
