Plenty of old white men advocating. In fact, a headline right now is an old white dude who got shoved by police and ended up in the hospital. And the story on him is he’s been a huge advocate for human rights his whole life.

Think we really need to be careful labeling people and sterotyping people.  I mean isn’t that part of the point?

JR was a sexist and racist, and that’s why it’s not surprising. And sexist/racists come in all colors.

If you go back 10 years on this forum 90% loved JR. you’d get flamed for even mentioning anything negative about him. I wonder where all these people are now?

Go back 10yrs and R. Kelly is still the King of R&B And Bill Cosby is still America's Father.... things change...

I get it. This is like the all lives matter stuff. yes, in an ideal world, we don't want to / need to call out the bullshit old white men do as "old white dude gonna old white dude."  But, the (old) white dudes that are truly advocating recognize that there is a damn good reason people say things like "old white guy going to old white guy" and instead of getting defensive acknowledge it and move on, hoping their behavior demonstrates that it / the perceived norm will not be tolerated any longer.

sure, it is not universally true, but in our society, white dudes have a ton of power and have systemicly used it to repress many other groups.  so yes.  old white guys gonna old white guy.

and as to the point, it is actually that people are dying because of systemic racism and bias in this country that is propped up, in part, due to ... you guessed it, the old white guys that profit from it, among many others.  I would say the point is quite far from, "we want to be a society where people aren't stereotyping old rich white men as douchebags :("

“In 2016, I saw a world that even with peaceful protesting that didn’t understand and was not willing to listen. Looking back, it was hard times because we were screaming back then about how we need help, how we wanted to help the community and show we are one. It’s tough when you hear from the top down, 'people come to watch football and get away from that stuff.' You get open-end promises, then weeks go by and nothing gets said or brought up. They did what they wanted."

“It’s not like that anymore and they (Carolina Panthers) promised me it wasn’t like that anymore when I came back. I had plenty of calls saying they appreciate what I’m doing and want to help and even Tepper (called) to say he appreciated how I was out there with the guys and it is a 180 from what they used to be. And when I came back, they said the same thing. I needed stability in my job to be who I am and they assured me they believed in the same things and I was allowed to stand up for things I believe in, and that was big.”

Literally no one wants that statue up. If that were false it wouldn’t have been put in the contract to be left up.

Well, there is one person who wants it up

(some of his family probably do too)

I always thought it was hilarious that Richardson claimed to have never wanted that statue built, then made it a term of the sale that it be kept in place.

Kind of hard to take a guy serious who doesn't understand the difference between "condone" and "conduct".

Figured he would have known as much even before going to UNC-CH but he managed to put in 4 years there without ever making the distinction.

Apparently they are about to tear it down right now.

You go ahead and break the story :shades:
