O.J. Howard please

I thought the Bucs decided to take him off the trading block?  But yeah, while not quite living up to his potential, still MUCH better than anything we have currently.  I still believe Ian Thomas is a TE2 based off abilities, but due our situation, he will be the TE1 unless something changes.

Delanie Walker (old), Jordan Reed (oft injured) and Ed Dickson (old) are available..

Question is: are we rolling with Ian as our starter and looking for a vet backup OR are we looking for a starting calibre TE?

It would be silly not to at lest look for better options.  Think about it, if our OL stays healthy and plays even average, this offense should roll.  The only skill offensive position that doesn't have a stud is TE.

No one knows what Brady will do with TEs, lsu didnt use them much. Alex armah is a help here. I thought Steve would have been a solid #3 and even challenge Manhertz for snaps. This shows why the panthers threw money at UDFA TEs heavy, but how will Brady use them or does he even want them?

Temarrick Hemingway could be the guy for #3 TE. Hes is that bad spot about being not good enough for a jersey and getting old for PS. I like what he brings to the game.

Armah is also an endangered species.  LSU went away from a FB--for years they had 4 or 5, but they carried 1 last year.---but he could become more of a hybrid.

delanie walker even if he's 35, as long as he can stay on the field will be one of the better run blocking TEs in the league, and we need anyone who can block pretty badly. i think he'd be a good pickup for us for the right price.

What makes you think that Ian Thomas's (For grammar Nazi's, that's actually correct when referencing a singular person) ceiling is a TE2 from the standpoint of ability?

From how things are turning out for Howard, I think there is an argument to be made that both he and Thomas may be in the same boat (and O.J. has had more opportunities to show what he can do, which could mean that with more opportunities, Thomas could theoretically be better as time moves on).

Thomas hasn't shown much and while he could get better, wouldn't it be better for him to learn under someone that has more experience?  What if he gets the opportunity and still lacks the production?

The defense is going to struggle this year and the only way to help them is to have a really good offense.  One more solid skill player at TE isn't a whole lot to ask rather than the 'wait and see' approach with Thomas.

He hasnt shown much because he has been behind Olsen.  When given the chance he has played well.

We ran plenty of two TE sets in the past.  Olsen was hurt a bunch too, remember?  Thomas had a couple of good games with Olsen out, primarily because he wasn't seen as a threat by defenses.  He should have feasted in all those games.  Sure, let's hitch our boxcar to the Thomas train and see where that gets us.

A one-year deal for a proven vet...like we already have plenty of, would do just fine to allow the defense to get a year together under their belt while giving the offense just one more weapon.  As I already stated, our best defense this year is going to be our offense.
