That is ridiculous and sideways. If that was true then Cam would still be here.

He is nowhere worth $20 million a year for this and next year.

That is your opinion only, truth is the Panthers feel he is worth what he is getting paid.

The part about him being overpaid is opinion but based on facts you avoid and discount with terrible debate.

The NFL is a violent sport and players cant be held accountable for injuries.  He is paid what he deserves to be paid

This is where you are dead wrong and the part of your argument that is incorrect. Players get cut or restructured lower all the time due to injury. The fact that he missed an entire year and had a meh year in 2018 is factual. Keep trying to talk those facts down but they will always be there.

Also, his contract was signed and structured pre-new staff and backed by a HC that got fired. If he doesn't step up then look for him to be tossed out on his butt. This is the what have you done for recently league, not you looked great in 2015 league.

I hope Brown is a beast and allows KK to rebound but there is a good possibility the rotator cuff injury could lead to further issues or reductions in play.

The Panthers could really replace KK, Paradis and Gano with stop gap vets and not miss a beat. And disregarding contract hits could save quite a bit of cap.  Literally there would be no drop off. But if they preform like they have, IF, I mean yea IF they did it’d be worth it. But they haven’t, paying for players for past IFs and has beens was a JR thing and his record/tenure speaks for itself.

My money says all 3 will be on this team much longer than they should, already true for 2/3.

You're on your own with that opinion

Making room for Clowney?

I do not get the obsession with Clowney, he was lazy in college and only got by from his natural athletic ability.  He was known for taking plays off and giving half effort all the time.  I never got the hype coming out from college and he never lived up to his abilities in the NFL.  Blame it on him having injuries if you'd like but that is part of the NFL....if you can't stay healthy and havn't proven all that much in the NFL up till that point....who cares if you still have potential I say.  For a cheap contract yes but for what he would demand?  Thanks but no thanks.

Short is guaranteed about $18 million on his remaining contract. His 2020 cap hit is $20 million. We don't have the depth to man our defensive line without replacing him, so unless you think you can get similar production by signing someone with a cap hit of $2 million or less, the math doesn't add up. You do get some cap savings this year at the expense of cap space next year but unless you think we need that cap space now, there's not a huge benefit.

I'd honestly be ok with cutting Short if there is a cheap serviceable veteran available to take his spot but who would that be at this point? I guess the team thinks its worth seeing if Short can regain his form with a year to get healthy and a younger and hopefully better defensive line around him.
