I would argue the reason he was one of the first guys to sign is because the GM who drafted him shelled out stupid money.  I don't even know that he had other suitors.

Apple made a lot of sense for us. Turning 25 in a couple months with untapped potential. See what the coaches can do. Buy low/high reward potential here.

Ppl used to love these type of signing when Gettelmen did them.. And he would signed older vets. 

Signing young cheap guys with some potential should be the new model of our FA plans going forward..
