Man, if you don’t think Cam getting cut in the middle of the biggest US health pandemic in history isn’t being “screwed” then what’s the fuging point to bring all the other “specifics” ?

Jason Verrett was resigned by the 49ers.  He's been so beat up that he has played like 1 game in the last 3 years.  Dre Kirkpatrick was cut a week after Cam was released.  He missed 10 games last year with injuries.  Guy's get cut because of injuries all the time.  It's just unlucky this year with the pandemic.  There were rumors out there at the senior bowl and combine that Cam was available for trade and no one trusted his health.  If Cam got screwed because of the pandemic then so did every other veteran that got cut with any history of injuries.  It's not any one team's fault that happened.  Unless you think Tepper started COVID-19

Because he didn't speak out does that mean the Panthers didnt mess up? Even if he doesnt think the Panthers mishandled his injuries, does that actually mean they didnt?

No... does that mean they did? Give me a specific example of where they did?

The same people saying "well, Cam didn't say anything about it!" are the same people who would crucify him for not being a team player if he did. Minds are made up. Mental gymnastics will continue to justify opinions.

I'm sure if we and he could have a redo of how the injuries were handled, both sides would probably take it. But, it is what it is at this point. Just gotta hope we can land another franchise QB now and not flounder for years looking for one like a lot of teams do and like we have in the past.

I wouldn't.  And how do you know they will crucify him. Personally if a player thinks he's hurt and he goes out and play no matter what the team says he's stupid. Would you think it would be wise if a surgeon says to you , I have an eye infection and can't see well but I want to operate on you anyway because the insurance company is forcing me? And yes there are varying degrees of this but I think you see my point.  On multiple occasions you speak of "Cam haters", tell me what exactly is a Cam hater? I do know this, many on this site have stated the following:
* The Oline let Cam down
* The WRs let Cam down

* The run gam let Cam down
* Ron let Cam down
* The FO let Cam down

What are the chances of all of those being true and Cam has no fault?

You're not very familiar with how football and the NFL works if you don't think there are lots of players out there every week playing with injuries. These guys have it ingrained in their heads from an early age that they're soft if they don't play through injuries. The trick is figuring out which injuries are smart to play through and which ones aren't. The team hast the authority to make the call and say you're not playing with this one.

How did the OL not let down Cam? Our OL was largely terrible during his time here. Ditto for the WRs. How is that not on the front office?

Cam largely WAS the running game. Ron allowed Cam to carry his guy Shula who was a terrible OC.

Cam isn't blameless. He should've been more forthcoming about his injuries if he withheld info from the team. But the Colts and Panthers both landed elite franchise QBs in back to back years and they both completely botched it. They got the hell beaten out of Luck and Cam and drastically altered and shorted the careers of those two generational talents.

This alone makes me wonder why some are so quick to replace Bridgewater. The OL is in place for a major overhaul unless Moton is retained, Little lights it up, and Daley continues to develop. There is a need at center unless Paradis pulls a 180. Putting somebody without Cam's mobility is... dangerous to say the least.

If the team takes a QB high in the draft next year, I imagine they will still sit behind Teddy for a year to develop AND allow the team to be formed until it's safe to march the youngster out.

Nothing will cause me to write Rhule off faster than him landing a franchise QB and then just feeding him to the wolves like the previous regime did with Cam.

First and foremost I want to say I say I respect your opinion and I agree with a lot of what you say. But not on this one.  I get what you are saying about injuries in the NFL for the most part. But there have been plenty of players that said. Naw... I am not playing this week. Trent Williams stated publicly he would never trust the Redskins physicians for example. Heck even in games players have made the decision to take plays off. See Julio Jones. And you are right it is about figuring out which injuries you should or should not play with. But then again you come out say he should have been more forthcoming. And have you ever wondered why the FO went with super big receivers? Have you ever thought that maybe they figured out that CAM IS NOT ACCURATE and wanted to give him a bigger targets?  it was a a failed experience because you can't fix a a problem without addressing the root cause -CAM IS NOT ACCURATE. Have you ever wondered why they didnt roll him out more ? move the launch point of his passes? because CAM IS NOT ACCURATE. Heck the hated Matt Ryan rolls out waaaay more than Cam. Because he is ACCURATE, not the strongest arm, not the most mobile, not the biggest but ACCURATE. And accuracy trumps everything else.

Cam was a warrior for us. Cam gave his all. But Cam never tried to evolve into a better passer until it was too late. And at the end of all you NEED your QB to be accurate. Period. And I will venture a guess between his injury history, his personality and most of all his lack of accuracy is the reason why he is not signed. The numbers tell the story.

This goes back to the two camps of thought on Cam.  The first being Cam was almost a real life Superman and only the Panthers could derail what would have been a first-ballot HOF career.  The second being that in life, poo happens and in certain circumstances, folks get dealt a bad hand.  Cam got injured, then again and his contract was about up when a new staff decided they were going in a different direction in this rebuild.  A pandemic broke out in the mean time.  Does it suck for Cam?  Of course it does.  Was this a ploy by the Panthers to ruin him?  Of course not.

People in the first camp can't get over what could have been by posing a ton of "what if" questions.  Not everyone gets a storybook career.  Players get stuck on bad teams, get injured, become salary cap casualties or an ill-fit for new coaching staff.  This stuff happens all the time, but because it happened to their favorite player, well, there was bias and a conspiracy against him.  In reality, it's just part of the business in the NFL.

I really don't think it's fair to compare the Trent Williams situation. The Redskins misdiagnosed a cancerous growth in his head. I fully understand why he drew a line in the sand and said, "Nope. No more with these guys."

In the one season that Cam played (even with a bum shoulder) in Norv's offense that didn't ask him to constantly take downfield shots to blanked receivers, Cam completed 68% of his attempts. A lot of Cam's "inaccuracies" were largely due to Shula's system that constantly demanded that he attempt the toughest throws a QB is asked to make. I'll never argue that Cam is Drew Brees or Tom Brady in the accuracy department because he's not. Even at his best he'd have a couple of wild misses a game, but I do think a lot of the accuracy concerns are overblown. The theory to go with jumbo slow WRs was a misguided one. It's a lot easier to throw to smaller open receivers than it is to throw to big blanketed receivers. I was fine with drafting KB. I thought it was a mistake to double down and draft a poor man's version of KB the following year in Funchess. One jumbo possession/redzone WR who struggles to create separation is enough.

Because Teddy has always been mediocre.

I honestly wouldn't be opposed to a rookie QB sitting behind Teddy for a year. If he's ready and the best option, play him. If he's not, lean on Teddy for another season.

So go get a rookie and then go repeat what happened to Cam, or let a guy that has been a successful starter and back up in the league hold down the fort until things are ready.

I'll take the latter every time.

Yeah, to some extent we 'David Carr-ed' Cam and the last thing we want to do is 'Cam' our next rookie QB by starting him immediately.  Draft him, sit him and let him learn a year before being given the keys to the franchise.  I lol at the Lawrence folks that think he's going to come here (assuming he does) and take the wheel and go full-on Clemson Tigers smack down of the ACC to the rest of the NFL.  Trevor will get his a$$ handed to him just like every other rookie QB who starts day 1.  Assuming it did go down like that, they would be saying the Panthers ruined another promising career.

Anyone that doesn’t think cam was done wrong is either a blind panthers homer or a cam hater. It isn’t even debatable. The franchise screwed over its best QB in franchise history.

side note. Can the Charlotte media please get away from including frank Garcia in in panthers stuff. He was accused by multiple women for domestic violence. He was also the dumbest sports Talk radio host in the country. He brings absolutely no value to anything he does in the media.

I cringed when I saw that Frank Garcia was interviewed for this piece. He has no room to talk.

Cam's release wasn't handled as well as it should have been, but I see nothing that the Panthers did that actually "screwed him over", if someone can explain that to me, I would be all ears.

I have asked another poster to explain this as well, and he ran off.

Please break down specifics, dates, surgeries, injuries, contracts, dead money, Covid, etc....that all needs to be in there.

First shoulder surgery was March 30, 2017.

Here's what Cam said about it in an article in June 2017:

**His injury issues peaked when he hurt his shoulder in Week 14. He ended up playing through the injury, which is in the process of healing now. So, why did he wait until late March to have surgery?

"I figured it would heal on its own," Newton said. "I was trying to get the proper treatment, overtreatment. Get it stretched, get a massage, get the ice, stem, everything. Over time I was like, 'You know what? It's just not getting better.'

"So when I came back to Charlotte, I got another MRI, and by that time, everything had pretty much cleared up. It wasn't as swollen as it was during the season so they could see and it showed up as a partially torn rotator cuff.**

Cam taking ownership and no mention of the team altering any kind scheduling, etc...  If I remember correctly the follow-up exam was delayed because Cam wanted to attend a wedding on the west coast.

Neither do his supporters on this issue. They will make every excuse in the world why he wasnt that successful, why he was cut, why he hasnt signed.  And in the same breath tell you he should be in the HoF. Can you image not meeting your goals on your job and blaming management? Or your peers?  I am pretty sure that wouldn't go over well. Cam never had back to back winning seasons, he is a below 60% career passer for NINE YEARS. His TD/INT ratio sucks but yet we are supposed to believe that he is better than most of the QBs in the league.....OK. As Bill Parcells said. You are what your record says you are.
