Thanks OP.  I was familiar with Ramadan but not Eid al-Fitr as a festival at it's conclusion. Any day where you learn something is a good day in my book.  To this day the 50th issue of Neil Gaimen's Sandman comic, entitled Ramadan, is one of my favorite stories of any kind.

I am an atheist, so I couldn't care less about any religious holiday unless it makes me more money on a paycheck.

Do you not take Christmas and Thanksgiving off from work just like all the christians? If the issue is being paid for the holiday, then whether it's religious or not in nature is kind of a moot point no?
