Dak Prescott turns down record breaking contract.

He'll back down on the number, Dallas will agree to the shorter contract Dak wants.  3-4 years, 40ish millon and Dallas will have to start gutting the trenches over the next season or two to stay under the cap. Works for me.

Mahomes is going to sign for 45-50 per year fully guaranteed - - and be worth it.

Mediocre based on what? His stats years ago for Minnesota? His 5-0 record for the Saints? Most people here want to harp winning or losing. His record as a starter is 22-12.  That isn't exactly mediocre.

22-12 being a mediocre game manager playing behind some very good defenses in Minnesota and New Orleans. The guy couldn’t even beat out Darnold and McCown for a job in New York. I’m really thinking that some Panthers fans are seriously on drugs. I get it trying to be a good homer rooting for your favorite team’s players but omfg.

That's on us. It was stupid on the surface. But, it's basically a two year deal and I think he's probably primarily here to help install the offense and play wet nurse for a year to the QB we draft next April. If it all works out like that, it may very well turn out to be a good investment.

Good investment would be to stick to Kyle Allen and Will Grier to tank the ship. Spend the rest of that 21 million this year and next year on other areas like maybe “cornerback”, “linebacker”, a “guard”, maybe a “tight end”. That’s good investment. Not being tied up 42 mil of your money to a mediocre QB for two years and patching your secondary with rookies in the late rounds.

I think this brings up an interesting potential landing spot for Cam.

The Cowboys(or any team) could be insane to pay Dak that kind of money.

Man, that would be tough for me. I hate the Cowboys but want Cam to do well.

Maybe Cam can go off and put up crazy numbers while the rest of their team sucks

Shame Dak is still very young, Dallas is perfectly set up to either draft a QB on a rookie deal or sign a mediocre vet and try and compete. You sign Dak for that kind of money you pretty much wasted a bunch of great drafts by not signing them. I’d rather have all that talent. Dak is not good enough like say Brees or Rodgers to eat all that cap and still have a competitive team. Is Jones smart enough to know or even care? Yet to be seen.

For that matter try and trade for Rodgers since they drafted a QB in the 1st round.

Worth it maybe, but cap hell will gut any super bowl hopes

Let's be fair here. Bridgewater did a good job in Minnesota, was offensive rookie of the year and the next year took them to the playoffs in his first 2 seasons. The stint in New York was really his first chance to even get back into football after what could have been a career ending injury. His first game actually playing was the 2018 season game against us and you could tell he wasn't back to 100%. It really wasn't until he did so well for New Orleans last year that I would have considered him an option to be our starter. But after doing more research and actually looking at his game and then thinking about his fit in a Saints style offense we will install under Brady, I could readily see why he was Brady's choice.

No they don't. There's already a hard salary cap in place. If teams want to hamstring themselves by terribly overpaying players that's on them. I'd much rather have it that way than institute max contract stipulations and see the marquee teams load up on elite talent because smaller markets don't even have the option of overpaying them.

I much rather see the rich owners load up on talent when we have the richest owner in the league. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Might actually be fun to win a Super Bowl for once in our history.
