2020 will a a good year for us

I love the positive posts. I like they went with offense with young vets to add to what we had to give us a competitive and exciting team to watch on that side. Maybe they'll win a couple of games with a 2 minute offense. Also they did that because they knew they had to do a complete rebuild on defense, but I like the pieces. We have potential to be very competitive next year. Not win a lot of games but fight and keep things exciting. It will be like rooting for the underdogs and they are giving it there all. I don't care to even think about win totals but if we can stay competitive all year then we have hope with more additions we can get even better, especially on defense.

Also, fans will be more opt to cheer when we are fighting hard and not expected to win than a team with lots of talent and we expect to win and we're getting half hearted effects. It's going to be a fun year.

I seriously don’t get all the hate and negativity on this board. I’ve been just scrolling all off season not posting.  49ers did a quick rebuild, why can’t we? We are going to have a lot of money next year to spend. Offense has a lot of weapons. Sure the o line isn’t the best but We have stop gaps in Okung and both guard spots while we have people develop or spend some of that money next year or first round pick to help improve. Let the young defense go through some growing pains this year then add another addition or two and they’ll be straight. I can easily see this team winning 5-6 games this year while prepping to flip to a 10 win team the following. Some of y’all just must be depressing people and be exhausted from all that negative energy you use on a team that you’re a “fan” of.

great post man, I agree. Psychology can answer your question.

Most people that you're seeing these comments from are posting from sadness and frustration. The constant let downs have slowly broken them. The only way to cope now is to not only have 0 expectations, but to make very negative and hateful comments to reverse their expectations. This way, they can't be let down - or sad. If we do well, it will be a pleasant surprise.

It's essentially reverse psychology on yourself. Nobody that has registered on a fan forum and made thousand of posts is truly a hater or negative. It is a reflection of how they handle adversity and emotions.

I've been on this forum and many others for a long time, and used to spend hours arguing and trying to slap sense into folks.

Every fan is different, and at the end of the day - this is simply something that we watch for entertainment purposes and have no affect or input in whatsoever.

It's true, but I think these guys are going to have a significant learning curve adjusting the NFL and just like in the past, Rhule is inheriting a "program" in shambles. I'd feel a lot better if we had more NFL experience on the staff. I think Rhule will learn the hard way that he's going to need it going forward.

The coronavirus isn't helping us either, but I love the athleticism that we have acquired.   I think the offense is going to put some points up.  If the defense can come together and do well we might be much better than we all think.

I also think Shaq is going to be ready to fill in that shadow Luke left.  He's had multiple years next to him.  Hopefully, he's learned the art of reading offenses.  His speed may be better than Luke's was.   KK up front should be able to pull the young studs along the way.    The back end could be a surprise or nightmare.  I believe it will be the players ability to work the scheme without free lancing.

If the magnificent 7 (my title for the rookies) step up and start a foundation.  2021 will be fun and 2022 we should be back to the top.

Go Panthers

This is borderline delusional. Teddy has never thrown for more than 14 TDs in a season. KK is pretty much washed up at this point and is a cap anchor. Shaq is a good LB, but Luke is an all-time great. No, Shaq isn't faster than Luke. 4.64 vs. 4.58. I'm excited about the rookies, but if you think we're "back on top" (I'm not sure how a ringless franchise can claim to have ever been "on top") by '22... oh wee mayne.

TO the top, didn't say on the top.  The offense has the potential to be very good.

.06 ok splitting hairs.  No where did I say he would be Luke.  I think he will be a good MLB and hold the front 7 together.

It is highly possible to be TO THE TOP in 2022.

Any season is a guess.  How many times have we picked us to be bad and play good and visa versa.

Be negative is all good with me.   I tend to look to the positive.

Our offense will score.. that will win more than 4 games without much more..

I believe our defense, while young, will be an opportunistic defense, creating turnovers from constant pressure.  This will be enough to put us over .500 this season.

While normally I'd be right there with Scot and others about our NFL Green coaches,  something has me believing they won't have the normal green struggles others have had.

I'm excited for, and looking forward to this season.

I’ve never been more optimistic and excited for the Panthers organization and their trajectory going forward.

The new owner isn’t only the smartest NFL owner, he also has the deepest pockets — a lethal combination. Said owner has also installed the same incredibly effective management structure he used to lead Appaloosa to industry best performance. Unlike under previous ownership staff members now know their roles, have been placed in those roles based on merit, have clearly defined responsibilities, and the expectations of them are known and carefully measured — the 2 key execs, Marty & Matt (leaders within The Firm), have been put in a position to succeed.

Between Marty, Matt and Joe and the other coaches there is a wealth of experience at all levels of football including the NFL— again, this group has been put in position and given all the necessary tools for smashing success, I expect nothing less (including better than expected results in the short run, 8-8 in coming season).

The on-field leadership starts with a proven 1st round/Pro Bowl QB who’s has more NFL life experience under his belt at age 27 than almost any player ever at the same age — this will serve him well, NOTHING fazes Big Time Teddy, the guy is a winner and will serve the Panthers well for a decade. .

I could go on but within The Firm those are the key roles/areas that needed to be solved for and under Tepper’s leadership The Firm has done an amazing job.

VIVE LA PANTHERS!!!

The 49ers went 4 straight years winning 6 or fewer games and went through 3 coaches in the process. After rebooting their rebuild for the 3rd time, it still took the 3rd coach until his 3rd season (after two seasons of 6-10 and 4-12) before they posted a winning record and they saw results. That’s not a quick rebuild.

The clock started when John Lynch was named 49rs GM on 1/29/2017.

Matt Rhule was named Head Ball Coach on 1/7/2020...make a note of it.

I have zero expectations about wins and losses this season.  And that is not how I will judge where we are at the end of 2020, nor am I particularly negative about it.  There was a penalty associated with several offseasons of futility, acting like we were only a couple of players away.  I am basically looking for three things by season's end:

  • A system that puts us in position to win games, even if we don't have the talent or maturity yet to seal the deal.  I'd like to walk out of this season thinking our coaching staff will steal us wins from time to time.  I've been a Panther fan since 2006, and I have never had that feeling.  The closest might have been Chudzinski running the offense.
  • Young players to show flashes of potential and development.  Some may even start to emerge throughout the course of the season.  The kind of thing that tells us we don't have to address their position any time soon.
  • A strong command of where we need help.  We had that after 2019, but the answer "everywhere" is just slightly broader than what I am hoping for.  If we are sitting here next January saying we need to get better at corner and OL (for example, not necessarily a prediction), that is better than where we have been in recent years.

I won't say my expectations are lower than ever.  My expectations in 2010 were low and got lower.  We had a lame duck coaching staff that was only around because they had time left on their contracts.  It was led by a HC who was pouting because we moved on from his QB, because the guy had no arm left.  Said HC was so insistent in trying to prove his point, he almost got replacement killed by trotting him out there after his answer to "how many fingers am I holding up" was "Tuesday?"  And behind him to reap the rewards......Pickles.

It became obvious very early that 2010 was not a season, but a p*$$ing contest between a dead-man-walking head coach and stubborn owner.  So, we were treated to that soap opera and the only surprise was the extent it was carried to.
