If that's how you really want to twist that answer, then yeah, sure... I guess. It takes some real mental gymnastics and a lot of want to though.

What were your key takeaways from that answer?  Please be specific.

"With Cam, he was kind of like a big bro. He was always very welcoming to me since Day 1, always giving me advice. I became really close to him as the season went on, and just have a lot of respect for him as a person."

That was what I took away from his "non-answer" on Cam.

You didn't answer the question.

In your opinion what did Grier's (non) "answer" there say about Cam?

Yea he couldn’t even complete a pass. After almost an entire season on the bench learning the offense, Grier should have been better than he was. But who knows, scheme might just have not fit his skill set and the nomenclature confused him so maybe he will be a decent backup.

To be fair our line was dildos when he got a start. Allen was definitely better but he also wasn't a Rookie.

I literally quoted his answer.

Yes you did...

...and what a non-answer it was.

Amazing situation with Cam, literally everyone who is or was connected with the Panthers, will not say anything material about Cam...

...he's in the No-Go-Zone.

I mean what do you want him to say? "Man, our coaches and owner sure are a bunch of liars and made a real dumb choice." How about, "Yeah, I really didn't understand that decision but not my choice." Maybe, "Whew, glad that asshole is gone. Wow." Or, "Yeah, that shoulder is fuging FUBAR, bro. Wise decision."

Which of those don't get you in trouble?

He said what he could, which is he liked Cam and he expects him to be successful in whatever he does.

Sounds like you agree with me that it was a non-answer.

How about:

"I'm shocked another NFL team hasn't signed Cam.

Trust me, the guy can still play and whatever team does end up signing him is going to be glad they did."

But why? Why would he even weigh in on it?

He likes Cam, he's grateful to Cam. End of story.

He was jimmy clausen bad last season but who knows maybe he can get better in Brady’s offense

I'm not thinking that it'd be wise to judge anybody's potential from what happened last year. By the time Grier saw the field, the coaching staff and most of the players were just phoning it in and counting the minutes until the season ended.

He did answer the question. How much has he been around Cam in the last 6 months, does anyone think? I think not too much.

I don’t know if I’m surprised or not about the situation because I don’t know all the details of it. But I do know he’s a special talent and whatever he decides to do, that’s his business.

If you're trying to read between the lines about what our 3rd string QB thinks of our former starting QB, you're wasting your time.  And his answer was fine.  This wasn't a Cam Newton interview.  Jeesh

Anyhoo, I agree that Grier looked bad.  Was actually excited when we drafted him thinking he had potential so was a bit surprised he looked so out of his element for how much of a big game gunslinger he seemed in college.  He has always been good at deep ball accuracy even though he didn't have a rocket arm.  Not every Clausen has the same trajectory.  I'm willing to see if he can compete with PJ and Bridge but he may not make it through camp.
