Good Breakdown on Bridgewater (reddit)

Team talent levels are very low on both sides of the ball, more so on defense, so it's a smart bet to think TB will have a rough season. TB will probably be given 3 seasons to show that he can play here at a high level.

2020 - not so good for TB but given the roster what else could be expected.

2021 - more high draft picks and big moves in FA, team talent level improves greatly, and TB moves closer to an average QB's performance level.

2022 - by this point we should have a good team, and this is TB's prove it year. TB has a decent season and receives a new contract, not crazy money or anything, but respectable. Old reliable with do enough to keep us in the middle of the pack.

That is the most likely scenario imo. No wishful thinking, and no doomsday thinking.

Teddy will either be resigned after 2021 or cut.  If he is good, and the offense works as well as they hope, resigned.  If it doesn't then they will use their 1st round pick on a QB in 2022 draft.  It's really all a wait and see this year and next.

You are spot on.

Bet on the former...

Downgraded from what? Kyle Allen? No we didn’t. Bridgewater is better than Allen in almost every possible measurable facet.

Oh wait, you’re saying we downgraded from Cam? He played in two games last season that he lost and was not physically able to play in any more games. He hasn’t won a start since Nov 4, 2018.

Can’t downgrade from a QB that can’t play due to injury.

So tell me again how we “downgraded”?

I'll entertain the Kyle Allen comment just for the LULs because obviously anyone with a normal functioning brain knew I was talking about Cam Newton.

Kyle Allen put up better numbers last year in a lame duck season in which he was thrown into the fire than Sh*t the bed Ted has put up in ANY season hes played. So yes no matter how you look at it we downgraded by a pretty big margin

2015 was Teddy’s last full season, Allen had 100 more passing yards, 9 more fumbles, 7 more INTs, lower completion %, and of course a lower QB rating. If we look at last years stats per game (since Teddy only played 5) it’s not close either. I can appreciate your troll attempt, but you didn’t do it right...

Thats the biggest concern for me is he hasnt tested his knee in quite some time and we all know about our line.

That was Denver’s defense. They pressured EVERYONE that season

Teddy saw that kind of pressure a lot on Sunday’s. Like said in the tweet above he was pressured on 46.7% of dropbacks. That’s ABSURD.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/fivethirtyeight.com/features/cam-newton-never-had-a-chance/amp/

In the link above it says Cam was pressured on 21/48 (43.8%) of his drop backs in the Super Bowl. And on the year through the NFC Championship he was pressured on 179/654 (27.4%) drop backs.

Teddy was pressured more ALL SEASON than Cam was in the SB.

Teddy is not a good deep ball passer and these stats are extremely misleading. Theirs film evidence of Teddy under throwing Mike Wallace on numerous occasions that season, and the second Wallace left and went to play with Flacco (a mediocre QB with a good deep ball) his numbers doubled. Wallace had his worst yards per catch with Teddy. And since when is 15 yards deep??? You can throw a 15 yard comeback route FFS.

Ive already gave my thoughts, I think as long as our line holds up (which I have doubts of) Teddy will have a career year not barring injury. Doesn’t mean he’s a good deep ball thrower

In almost every aspect we are getting the anti-Cam with Bridgewater.  What do I mean by that?  Teddy is slighter in stature (shorter, lighter, thinner) never had a cannon arm and while athletic, never really was dubbed a duel threat QB.

Here is what Teddy offers that Cam really couldn't: accuracy, high completion rate, pass first mentality under duress and takes what the defense gives him.

I have a feeling if Teddy is successful to some degree this year--not solely measured in wins and losses, the Teddy detractors will chalk it up to Joe Brady's scheme, not so much to Bridgewater.
