The only one that you can make an argument for is Pep. Luke and Pep are both first ballot Hall of Famers. You can’t really make an argument for anyone else like that on our roster. 
 

Yeah, guys have player longer and been in more flashy positions and been more vocal to the media outlets but by the sheer success at their given positions, Luke and Pep are the top two players that have put on the Panthers uniform.

If you limit the discussion only to drafted players, the pool consists of Julius Peppers, Luke Kuechly, Steve Smith and Cam Newton.

I'd like to include Jordan Gross and Thomas Davis in that group, but I think in reality they're just a hair below the others.

1. Smith - one of if not the greatest WR of all time - First ballot HOF - The Panthers biggest claim to fame until they drafted Cam Newton

2. Pep - easily one of the best defensive players that has ever been in the league

3. Cam - his legacy was soiled by poor coaching and management decisions, but his story isn't finished yet - Easily the best QB the org ever had, and on any other team he'd already have a couple of SB wins

4. Luke - one of the best students of the game, ever - great athlete and future coach - career cut short by the same poor coaching and management that hurt Cam

 

Luke was great, yes. An HOF worthy talent. But, he wasn't at the level or at a position of influence/stat page/record books as those three above him.

Dan Morgan was an amazing MLB at one time too. So was Jon Beason. Both of them fell off the planet, while Luke managed to last a little bit longer.

Luke was absolutely over the level of those above him. His influence on the field made us a top 10 defense. Stats and accolades speak for themselves as far as Luke. Come on man.
