A franchise QB doesn't guarantee a Championship.

Never has, never will.

It pretty much guarantees the ability to be able to compete for one though. It's tough to name a legit franchise QB who hasn't/didn't at least have some deep playoff runs.

NFL football was practically a different game back then. That season there were 17 QBs over 3000 yards and only 4 over 4000. There were zero 30+ TD passers and 12 with 20+ TDs. Last season, there were 25 over 3000 yards and 11 over 4000 yards. Last season, there were 4 30+ TD passers and 23 with 20+ TDs.

The Trent Dilfers of the world aren't winning Super Bowls in today's NFL. They're not even coming close.

Is 2015 recent enough.  Cam was a vastly better QB than Manning in 2015.  A game manager with a stellar defense can still win a superb owl.

Why ? Because I feel it .

Me too, think you are spot on.

Only flaw in your thesis is Big Time Teddy yielding to Fields or anyone else --- that is not happening.

Haters gonna hate but Big Time Teddy is our man for the next 8-years, minimum.

Wouldn't shock me if Cam uses 2020 as a year to rest/rehab and audition for 2021. It also would not shock me when New Orleans or ATL sign Cam in '21 to replace either of their veteran QBs.

No one in the NFC south will sign Cam.  Just sayin.

journeyman QB, sketchy OL, star player is a RB in a league that is brutal to star RBs, DL has so many holes we had to use all our draft picks on it, ST always a nightmare. yeah the window closed when Cams shoulder separated and Ron wagered he could avoid getting fired by throwing Cam to the wolves with an OL made out of garbage.

this is at least a 2-3 year rebuild to be a serious competitor with a competent front office, but i have no faith in this front office whatsoever. i sure hope i'm wrong though.

Is it possible that we will be the future force of the NFC South?

Sure, but we still need to make the right moves. For one we need to ensure we have the right quarterback to build around. Maybe that is Teddy Bridgewater, but in all likelihood we will be looking at drafting someone long term to put in place as this team’s franchise quarterback. With that said, maybe Teddy can surprise us and perform like Alex Smith did at a decent enough level for us to be competitive.

I think we have shown positives signs in the first year of this rebuild. We appear to have had a good draft and our new head coach and GM seem to have a philosophy in mind in what they want this team to look like and play like. It will take time but we are well situated to be competitive in this division this season and beyond.

Personally I wouldn’t be too much into the other teams having ageing quarterbacks. It all depends on how successful/lucky they are when moving onto their next quarterback. The 49ers went from Montana to Young; and the Colts went from Peyton to Luck, who arguably could have led them to a title had he not suffered a pounding early in his career. Some teams hit lucky going from one QB to another. All it takes is for Jameis to realise his potential with the Saints and suddenly they are set for a decade with Jameis at QB. Or the Bucs or Falcons nail their next QB pick out of the park and get the next Deshaun Watson or Pat Mahomes. If that happens then the outlook of this division changes.
