Why should we tank for trevor when we have PJWalker? (Waits for the obligatory, "but he played in the XFL!) Yeah and those guys were just signed to the NFL as well, (Kenny Robinson? Donald Parham? DeMarcus Gates? Jordan Taamu?) PJ Walker is what we need, wait for preseason.

It's gonna be rough. Lots of close heartbreakers and one or two blowouts. Good news is I think the falcons will be worse. The bad news is the Buccaneers are gonna be much improved.  The rookies will flash, djax, burns, and Samuel will make big steps forward and bridgewater will bring stable leadership. Those building blocks along with Moore and CMC will result in some spoiler games. I say 4-5 wins at best. Sorry, secondary is sketch and oline is suspect still.

If I was a betting man, I'd say 3-13.

I think Vegas has us at 5.5 wins.  I've been saying 5 wins most of the offseason, but now I can see a 6th.  The main reason, nobody has film on us and most of our winnable games are early on before teams get a feel for us.  Call it the element of surprise.  If we get through the first half of the season with 3 or 4 wins and survive the meat of the schedule without any demoralizing thumpings, I can see another possible 2-3 wins in the back half even as teams get a bead on us and our team being gassed from the late bye week.

Really it all depends on some early season victories to gain some confidence and momentum..

On the flipside, our D that will be relying heavily on rookies will take awhile to start to gel. Our D is likely going to be REALLY bad, especially early on.

True, but between the two sides of the ball, defense is more intuitive and generally comes together quicker.  That's the reason in camp the defense always looks more dominant from the start.  I'm hoping we get the four preseason games in, for the defenses sake.  If so, I think they will be okay.  Sure they will take their lumps, but not more so if they don't get all four of those 'practice' games in.  The thing I'm concern about are the corners.  The front seven I think will hold their on, even from game one.  If we can't generate pressure with a basic 4-man front, it could be a long year.  If they can, it can mask some of that youthfulness in the secondary.  To be sure, they will be picked on early and often.

The problem we're going to have is that this is likely to be a very odd, abbreviated off-season in terms of ability to practice and prepare. All the while, we're going to be trying to install totally new schemes under a new staff while incorporating a ton of rookies on defense and just overall having a lot of changeover.

We're probably going to be one of the least prepared teams in the NFL to kickoff the season and it won't necessarily be the fault of the staff, it'll just be a product of this environment.

Yeeeaahh... Nobody is passing on Trevor Lawrence (or any other first round quarterback) in favor of PJ Walker.

He might get a chance to play and have a nice game or two but he's not the quarterback of the future.

Why not? Exactly what makes trevor better?
