One of his best attributes which helps mitigate his lack of height is his ability to vary his launch point.  This helps Russel Wilson as well.  Also of note, he typically releases the ball much higher than Wilson.

Not so unlikely.

Walker has many similarities to Wilson.  They both have elite escapability in (and coming out of) the pocket.  This can't be taught; you've either got it, or you don't.  Time and again in these highlights, you see he had that feel and that footwork to avoid the sack.  And he shows good on-the-run decision making in deciding when to run or pass off that escape.

And like Wilson, he does it while keeping his eyes downfield to find the open receiver.  If he can do it with Cam Phillips, think what he can do with our WRs.

He also displayed a wide variance of throws, many more deep than Bridgewater will even attempt.  Then there's that uncanny sidearm throw, in traffic, which is classic Mahomes.

I have more optimism about Walker than I do about Teddy.

When Cam was here Rhule said he wouldn't name a starter at QB. Hopefully there is competition for the job and Will Grier and PJ Walker truly have a shot at winning the starting job at QB.

Bridgewater has hit his ceiling, nothing new about him to the NFL. These other have all kinds of upside in comparison. I've already seen the Bridgewater show, he's just OK. The knee terrifies me. I don't ever want to see that happen again.

i agree , xfl or not pj walker can play!! he was very good in college but went under looked compared to big schools and he even played good in the preseason

I look forward to seeing PJ, but those who keep saying we know what we have in TB are wrong. He has only played 2 full seasons and the 5 games he played last year, extrapolated out, look really good. He was running the Saints offense exactly as it was designed. I think he may be more than serviceable with Brady designing things. We will see.

He looks good.  He moves around well in the pocket without losing his intention to pass. Seems to make quick decisions...can thread the needle at times.  Adapts and makes some good throws on the run and off balance. Strong arm.

NFL defenses will be a bigger challenge but if Rhule & company are really good at developing talent PJ looks like a good pick up.

He would be XFL mvp candidate, the team did well to grab him.   Interesting prospect who may fit well with new system.

It's nice to have these guys but just like Seattle and KC we will probably draft a QB down the road to lead us to the ship. Plenty of rebuilding to be done in the years to come.

Height isn't really a problem.  It comes down to ability.  Either he has it or he doesn't.  We'll see.

Kyler Murray and Michael Vick were in this range also

I wouldn't underestimate this kid's potential, particularly being the QB who helped carve out early success for Rhule at Temple.

After his freshman year, things got kicking there.  He puts up decent YPA, definitely has a bit of that Flutie/Wilson gene, it just depends on how much/if it could give Teddy a run for his money.  He also plays with some balls and like he's 6'2+.  Love the his pocket awareness and knowing the trajectory to throw it.  Someone mentioned something similar earlier. 

Looked fine in the big league practice games as well...though with Luck and Brissett, it makes sense why he got lost.  Maybe we found something interesting here.

What kind of odds (or "hope") do you place on this being an open competition?

In case you were unaware, The Firm awarded Teddy $33,000,000 in guaranteed compensation in the contract they recently signed him to.

So what coach said only applied if Cam Newton was on the roster? Can't trust anything Rhule says huh?
