Very cool pj walker article

https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/pj-walker-xfl-nfl-carolina-All the draft stuff made me forget we had a Teddy and PJ set at QB. Love and miss Cam, but it feels nice having a reliable backup with starter potential.

Is anyone else actually really excited to see what PJ Walker can do? I watch a lot of soccer and in particular follow the Premier League. If you don't watch English soccer, the team Leicester City FC fought their way from the third division, through the second division, making it into the top flight football league with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, etc, and then winning it all and becoming the best soccer team in England in the 2015/2016 season.

A third tier team working their way up to eventually becoming Premier League champions!

One of the world's best players and World Cup Winner, Ngolo Kante, who was about 25 at the time when Leicester won, went unnoticed the whole time playing for second rate teams as well as Leicester, until they won the Premier League. Now he's considered one of the best players for his position. Same with Jamie Vardy. The striker for Leicester had a NUTTY season when they won the Premier League title and is still now considered a quality striker after starting at the literal bottom of professional soccer (basically professional pick up), and earning appearances for the English national team.

I'm not saying PJ Walker is gonna be our next franchise quarterback, but ever since watching Leicester do the impossible, and seeing 3rd tier players like Ngolo Kante and Jamie Vardy become SOLID players, I don't count anyone out.

Also super interesting that Rhule has picked up guys from both the AAF and XFL. Seems like he values grinders, people who will play to prove their worth etc, over 'potential' or college tape, or combine If COVID wasn't a thing, the XFL would still be around. The extra time they took to get the league on its feet worked wonders and they were the first pro league since the USFL to actually have money behind them. Attendence was surprisingly high and ratings made the league economically viable once a real TV contract could've been ironed out.

I am much more excited banking on PJ Walker in his role than let's say if we drafted one of the QBs beyond the 1st in this draft.

He's only 25.  Showed good ability and has the legs against decent competition.  He may show up in the Preseason and could present a really good option. He will play at some point.  We've got Teddy B at QB.  I'm pretty psyched.

I think we can consider him like a draft pick if he was in the draft he would go in the first 3 rounds , he’s better then jalen hurts imo

Vardy is a particularly good example - at 25, he was still playing in the fifth division. People forget how many guys with top-level talent are playing at lower levels because they never caught the right break - even though the NFL has its own examples, like Kurt Warner.

Great read!  I will be pulling really for this guy and think he's better than Allen...most definitely Grier.  By moving Allen to get the ammunition to move up to get who I feel may be our best safety in franchise history, (if Chinn can maximize his potential) the Walker/Chinn connection may pay off big in the future.

While I obviously don't agree with all the moves this offseason, I think we made enough smart decisions like signing Walker to be hopeful this will result in a quick turn around.  No way around this 2020 having some major pitfalls, but 2021 we actually could compete with another solid offseason like this one.

The Leicester City story is probably the greatest team story in sports in the last few decades, at least, and it's largely unknown to American sports fans that don't follow soccer. What Leicester City did just isn't done in English football. (soccer, sorry :P)

But yes, I'm very intrigued by Walker. Sometimes diamonds get lost in the rubble. Maybe he'll sparkle. Happy we have him.

lets put it this way. time has often repeat itself in many ways , in 2012 seahawks paid nice money to standout qb flynn and in preseason i remember watching a small qb pick apart defense and scramble and i was blown away that qb was russell wilson, wilson beat out flynn even though it was unlikley . could pj do that to teddy bridgewater ? its unlikely but it can happen
