Not sure he was "ran out of town". He just disappointed as a 2nd round draft pick and we didn't re-sign him after his rookie contract. He signed a middling deal with the Patriots and had a pretty good first season with them. After that, he regressed back toward his mean.

If Samuel doesn't step it up this season, his story may very well play out similarly.

Really? Who? I think most people on the Samuel bandwagon are on it because they think he's capable of a lot more in a system that better utilizes him and a QB who can complete downfield passes. I'm fairly confident we will have the former of those this season. I'm doubtful we'll have the latter.

There were several posters who used his numbers to suggest he was worth a high draft pick in the several trade Samuel topics.  

Its not that I dont think he is a good player.  Its just looking at the roster, he is the 4th option at best unless they have designed plays for him.  This will be a 3 or 4 hundred yard season for him.

Yep, let’s extrapolate his time with the Saints. What about the game he played at the end of 2018 against us where he looked like a shell of Kyle Allen. Allen was amazing in his first 5 games. Seems like looking at 2 seasons is the opposite of cherry picking. 5 games with the Saints it literally the definition of cherry picking.

IMO, it's not a lack of talent with Samuel, rather how ineffectively he was utilized by our previous coaching staff. Samuel could be our 2nd best weapon after CMC this year in Brady's system.

The same folks that think Curtis Samuel is bad are the same people that think Teddy Bridgewater can't throw deep. They ignore any factual evidence to the contrary and then hammer away on their talking points with cherry-picked data.

Just my 2-cents, but I think Samuel is on the second tier list of needing to show something.  Shaq and Ian Thomas are the first tier. 

All of these guys suffered from being under-utilized by the previous brain trust and, in some cases, victims of the circumstances.  What I mean by that was last year was a mess on both sides of the ball.  It was mass confusion.  It's tough to produce or assess when there is no cohesion or apparent system on either side of the ball.

I think the under-utilization will take care of itself.  I doubt that the depth chart under Rhule will bear a striking resemblance to the seniority chart that Rivera liked.  The lack of direction in the scheme should be swept away to an unwelcome memory, too.

That means we will have a chance to see what Samuel can really do.

To begin with I wasn't as against Lafell as many here as a 3rd receiver or so but it's obvious Cam elevated those he played with. Curtis with a healthy Cam over the last two years would have superior numbers to Lafell.

I'm sure this will get me lumped in with the haters, but I don't see an easy path to more production for Samuel. His opportunities might drop. He was on the field for 90% of snaps last year in the offense with the second-most pass attempts in the league. Even if we're airing it out all the time, we're not going to throw it much more. They brought in Robby Anderson and then shopped Samuel--it sure seems like Samuel is going to be at best the third target among wide receivers, which makes him the fourth target in the offense after CMC. I don't see the case for a breakout, and it still wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets traded. There's just a lot of overlap between him, Anderson, and DJ, and both of those guys are better than him.

Yea because he was so badly hurt but if you look at 15 when all he had was Ginn, Cotchery and a young fubchess, he made them look better then what they were. This wasn't even about Cam just a better Qb then damn Allen. Put Curtis with Brees or Mahomes and watch him crack 1k.

Or even the 5th option if you include Thomas.  Point is, if they could have gotten a pick for him they should have
