Rumor: Panthers Interested in Acquiring Haason Reddick

So ya'll would risk having him cut and being picked up by another team? Instead of offering a 4th? Okay. I get it. lol

Yes. He isn't a make or break player. Why trade a 4th round pick for a guy on a one year deal? You could just as easily lose him next offseason as you could this offseason if he gets cut. He either wants to play here long term or he doesn't.

Everyday of the week I would. There's value in the 4th round and that pick can be used to move up. A 6th or 7th, not so much. We have the leverage here... Reddick is more likely to get his walking papers by AZ and is far from a sure thing.

He is probably worth a look. I don’t think Rhule is gonna do anything drastic to get him, unless he really believes he hasn’t been used correctly and thinks he can bring the best out of him.

So far, Rhule has not given me a reason to distrust his team building process. Until he does, I assume he will make reasonably good decisions.

Unless it changed with the new CBA, if you trade a rookie, his cap allotment remains with the team that drafted him. So, there isn't much financial incentive to make those trades(a reason why they are relatively rare). There also isn't much in the way of negotiating the rookie contracts. The scale is set by the NFL.

His 2020 salary wouldn’t be on their cap anymore. They’d save his 2020 salary $2.3M). There’s no way a team would have that on their cap if the player is traded. The only thing still on the cap is his signing bonus prorated through this year.

Offer a fourth next year. See if they bite.

A fourth? That’s way too much. I’d give a 7th or maybe a conditional 6th. He’s going to be a FA after this year.

if we give up a draft pick after we've been atypically apathetic towards compensatory picks im going to be concerned that this team doesn't see the opportunity presenting itself at the QB position in the next draft

we aren't in a dolphins or jaguars position where we have a nice selection of good players whom it just isnt working out with that could fetch a high draft pick if we needed to move up to secure a QB.

I already don’t think we are concerned about finding a franchise QB. The fact that we blew 4 decent comp picks (easily a starter or two or starter and depth on OL) and we went all in on QB and WR FAs early when no one else did, tells me that we have no interest in getting a franchise QB. We are ride or die with Teddy.

He's not a complete bust.  Has just been used wrong and yes, underperformed but he hasn't been out of his league in the NFL.  He has a decent career ahead of him.

Think he'd fit quite well here for our 4-3 looks at the WILL as long as Shaq and Whitehead are getting the job done.  Also a good measuring stick for Carter Jr. and the other guys vying for that spot.

We are apparently interested in trading for Haason Reddick. Is he worth giving up draft capital in the 2021 draft for?

There is nothing to this rumor. It started when Bill Barnwell wrote an article on ESPN in which he gave 1 player from each team that was in danger of being cut. Barnwell merely suggested Reddick would be cut now that the Cardinals drafted Isaiah Simmons to replace him. Barnwell believed Matt Rhule might be interested in a trade bc he used to coach him.

Wow, Juan calling out a farce of rumor!  Either you turned over a new leaf or jealous you got scooped on a baseless rumor.  Be honest, which is it? :)

i feel like it's worth mentioning that in 2018, he notched 80 tackles, 4 sacks, 6 QB hits and 8 TFL. not a world beater but he could add speed to our D which is what rhule wants, and given he plays in the NFL's retirement home maybe he's been used wrong and could become a decent player for us.

i'd not be mad at all if we tossed a 7th or 6th at him, you will almost never find anyone in those rounds anyway. no more than a 5th though.

Last week on his GM Shuffle podcast, former NFL personnel executive Michael Lombardi said, “Haason Reddick’s another guy for the Cardinals that they would gladly move on from. He’s been disappointing for them and I think they would like to make a move because they know they need to improve their defense.

“He was on their defense last year and it was really not very good. He doesn’t fit for what they do.”
