This is a rare predicament no team is in dire need of a quarterback as of right now

That's because the rules now make it a huge penalty, so QB's can play forever. Case and point, Cam was the only QB that wasn't covered by those rules, and he's the QB left unsigned.

Odds of a starting QB going down are much better than the lottery. Man has made 120 mil as an NFL QB, plus millions in endorsements, he can afford to wait.

Is it guaranteed that he'll be picked up even if that does happen, though?

NFL.com had a discussion about Newton a while back, and both Jeffri Chadiha and Jim Trotter said a team would have to build their whole system around Newton's skill set for it to work. Do you so that for a midseason replacement?

Some of you are acting like these teams want to try to get to 7-9...which is probably what Cam does to DEN, Jax, etc....

Jax is tanking, just not saying it.  NE looks like the are tanking to me, just not saying it.

Cam is likely going to be lonely for a while from the looks of it.

Paying someone $20M a year doesn't magically make him a legit starter. I don't think the Panthers got that memo.

Teddy Bridgewater is a good quarterback. He has yet to see his potential, and he is a proven, legit starter, whether you agree or not. He proved it before his vicious knee injury. He has proven since then, that he can still play on his knee.  He knows the system. I'm excited about his potential with OC Brady.

The reality is he is probably will just have a short tenure with us. He is capable, and certainly is our starter as of now. Comparisons to the QB he replaces is moot.

Comparisons to other starting qbs at this point is also moot. Brady wanted him.

He's never thrown for more than 14 TDs in a season, even before the injury. Filling in for 5-6 games doesn't give me a lot of information. After 5-6 games, Kyle Allen was looking pretty legit too.

We'll find out soon enough I suppose. My expectations are pretty damn low so it honestly wouldn't take much for him to surpass them.

Do you think that Brady really wanted Bridgewater the player or do you think he wanted Bridgewater the QB who is familiar with his system? The Panthers have admitted they toyed with the idea of trying to trade up with Cincy for Burrow, so I don't think for a second that Teddy Bridgewater was actually Brady's first choice. I honestly think that Bridgewater and his knowledge of the system is primarily to assist in the installation of the new offensive system and serve as a bridge to our next franchise QB.

I have been scratching my head at the constant teeth gnashing over TB.

When I moved to Virginia back in 1997, I was a couple of hundred miles away when I picked up a DC sports station on the radio.  They were gushing about a QB named Gus Frerotte, who was some hybrid of Dan Marino, Joe Montana, and Roger Staubach.  I knew of a QB named Gus Frerotte, and it clearly could not have been the same guy because the one I had seen was not nearly in that league.

Now I am hearing that we signed a guy named Teddy Bridgewater, who is some hybrid of Jimmy Clausen, Ryan Leaf, and Heath Shuler.  Strange, because I have seen another QB named Teddy Bridgewater, and the one I saw was not nearly as bad as this one must be.

We have a new offense, new personnel, new coaches, and an OC that has worked with and wanted Bridgewater to establish his scheme, maybe more.  I don’t really care if the guy can’t throw a football from his own end line to the end line on the far side of the field without even stepping into the throw, single-handedly carry the team on his back, or leap tall buildings with a single bound.  If he can help turn this directionless team around and post some victories, I’m all in.

It’s a shame so many others have thrown in the towel on the guy before the opening bell of the first round.
