Current backup would be Ryan Finley.

I could see them going after a guy like Joe Flacco. They'd know him well from his years in the division.

Flacco would get paid 10 million plus to be a back up lol. The most monotonous man in football yet again would get paid for mediocrity. Hilarious.

@onmyown it’s pretty feminine and contradictory to be this opinionated about sports players let alone ones on your team. There’s plenty of players out there that have differing personalities but if they play for your team and you dislike them do you revel in their success or disown the team because of the players annoyances? What you’re saying is very confusing especially when none of Cam’s “shenanigans” has cost the team anything. People that are this strongly opinionated about another man are clearly interested in the wrong thing poo like this is akin to a female being “triggered” by a reality star personality and tuning in each episode just to complain about them. Enjoy football dude and stfu or find another outlet to make asinine complaints.

Pretty feminine? I don’t look at females at anything but equal so I don’t understand. Typo? Can you elaborate how you think my comments are ‘feminine’ and why you view that as negative?

As I already stated in the post above, they win games so it doesn’t matter why I think of them. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion of their personalities.

You ask me why I think Cam is annoying but not why I think Rivers is annoying or Luke is boring. Hmm loaded question? Get help for your insecurities. You’re clearly triggers for reasons I can’t help you with.

When people like MVPcaffrey posting “my quarterback is white“ after every Allen win last year, it’s hard not to believe the people who wanted Cam gone aren’t racist.

This is libel and the mods should not be permitting use of the quotations attributing statements that were never typed.

Some rules are just meant to be bent.  Mods and moods are pretty close

Understand, but maybe they could use a veteran "insurance policy".... I don't see any starting jobs open for Cam, unless someone is injured.

Actually, If Cam is smart (which I think he is) and his ego will allow it (not so sure about this part), signing a 1 year, cheap deal as a back up would be great for him. A full year rehabbing, training, and not taking hits, a 31 year old Cam could have a nice market value. It's exactly what Bridgewater had to do after his injury history, except he got the benefit of starting 5 games and showing out.

All I know now, is I’m very excited by the direction this team has taken in the rebuild. I loved the draft and I think this team is putting serious emphasis on youth moving forward. Something the last regime sorely lacked.

As soon as Rhule was hired all signs pointed to a major attitude adjustment from what we had experienced during the last decade, actually the last 25 years, if we're being honest.

Fox and Rivera were given ample opportunity to show what they could do and Rhule deserves the same consideration.

Good or bad there is no turning back now.

Having an opinion on another man that you don't know or directly affects you to this extent is feminine. People like you are why ESPN broadcasts this soap opera nonsense instead of the sport it self.

I hope the Cam nut huggers finally realize something.  As great as you think a player was or might be, you do not "commit" to guy whose future is cloudy.  Cam wanted a long-term extension.  Now he can be acquired with no trade and he is sitting on the side of the dance floor like Honey Boo Boo at her prom.  Bill Belichick has Stidham and Hoyer as his QBs, and he passed on Cam.  Maybe he will live to regret it, but I doubt it.

Oh how the huggers got mad at the realists. You called us haters and racists. That had to be it, right?  It could not be that you have the business sense of a drunken sailor at port in Thailand--it had to be personal because Cam Newton is superman. Heck,  we had a contract with Cam for $100+m and he did not earn it--but you wanted to pay him 150% of that amount for another 4 years---while making excuses for 2016, 2018, and 2019.

Now Cam is out there on the open market, where his value is not attached to some emotion.  Breaking up is hard to do, but it is necessary at times.  Money talks--and a lot of money is thrown around by teams desperate for a QB---and Cam sits there with a cardboard sign as traffic whizzes by.  That, my friends, is the reality of this business-why you do not spend $100m on some emotional flashback.

Can’t speak to others, but you were called out for good reasons. Quite a few inconsistencies on your end.

Anyways, with posts like this, I hope your not one of those who will get upset when Cam is continuously brought up in the future.

Don’t extend Cam but sign Teddy cause you’re racist? People have insecure logic.

Cam had a different and big personality. One some people will love and others will be annoyed. I think Cam is annoying as hell. I also think Rivera is annoying as hell. I think Luke is boring as hell...doesn’t mean anything though cause they can win games.

But fanboys who loved him can’t fathom others who don’t, so it must have been for other reasons. It’s impossible to be annoyed by Cam’s personality and not be fetishized by the fanboys.

Yet, you had no issue assuming those who called out CMC were being prejudiced in doing so, lol.

Folks can be prejudiced against CMC, yet they can’t or shouldn’t be called out when it happens to Cam?

The hilarious irony in all of this is that those same diehard Cam fans who were condemning fans as racist for ostracizing Cam are the very same people now spamming "NOT MY QUARTERBACK!" in all of the Teddy Bridgewater posts on the Panthers' Instagram page...therefore ostracizing our new quarterback who also happens to be African-American.  They have become the very thing they despise.

Incorrect, no one is saying teddy ain’t our qb because of how he dress or talks, or because how many of his gfs he’s gotten pregnant ect ect, granted not supporting teddy at this junction is wrong but there’s levels to this.

if you want to say cam can’t throw or he’s damaged goods fine, but when posters start bringing up things outside of football, like his wardrobe than it looks suspicious.

Well I guess Teddy takes great comfort in knowing that the thousands of negative comments/upvotes spamming those Instagram posts are probably not racially motivated.

What you’re doing is what people should have been doing all along...practicing nuance in determining whether criticisms are racially motivated or not. That is not what people have been doing on here.

”I wish Cam would work on his mechanics a little more”

=Racist

”Ugh Cam is still struggling with overthrows”

=Racist. “Tom Brady overthrows receivers too!!! Why aren’t you criticizing him?? I wonder what the difference is!!!”

“That was a nice throw by Kyle Allen”

=Racist. “Keep revving that F-150!! Bet you’re glad you got a white quarterback now”.

Come on man...let’s not act like the majority of anti-Cam criticisms hadn’t been labeled as racist and pooed ad infinitum on these boards for the last 9 years.

Feel free to draw distinctions between the two if you want, but the bottom line is the same: we have a new African-American QB in Carolina who is not welcomed or accepted by a large portion of the fanbase.

Let’s be real, the posters throwing out the racist tag are few or the same posters that do it regardless.

second, I have yet to see someone be called a racist because they don’t believe cam will ever be healthy again or because they don’t believe he’s as good as a passer as runner. It’s normally posters with than same Criticism but they add in some irrelevant subject like how he dress or how he talks, ect which then your venturing in to something outside of football, not liking someone because how they’re dressed is some 1st grader type stuff.

again you made my point, the new African American qb isn’t accepted because people believe he’s not better than cam, mediocre as a qb, or fans don’t like how the front office handled the cam situation, it has nothing to do with how Teddy dress, talks, post on Instagram, ect.

I’ve seen posters post legit material about cam as a passer or the severity of of his injury preventing him from ever returning back to form, tbh it’s the guys who post in the TB and have labels because of there opinions in here who are tagging others as racist or the ones making questionable “other” motives post
