I hope the Cam nut huggers finally realize something.  As great as you think a player was or might be, you do not "commit" to guy whose future is cloudy.  Cam wanted a long-term extension.  Now he can be acquired with no trade and he is sitting on the side of the dance floor like Honey Boo Boo at her prom.  Bill Belichick has Stidham and Hoyer as his QBs, and he passed on Cam.  Maybe he will live to regret it, but I doubt it.

Oh how the huggers got mad at the realists. You called us haters and racists. That had to be it, right?  It could not be that you have the business sense of a drunken sailor at port in Thailand--it had to be personal because Cam Newton is superman. Heck,  we had a contract with Cam for $100+m and he did not earn it--but you wanted to pay him 150% of that amount for another 4 years---while making excuses for 2016, 2018, and 2019.

Now Cam is out there on the open market, where his value is not attached to some emotion.  Breaking up is hard to do, but it is necessary at times.  Money talks--and a lot of money is thrown around by teams desperate for a QB---and Cam sits there with a cardboard sign as traffic whizzes by.  That, my friends, is the reality of this business-why you do not spend $100m on some emotional flashback.

Lol someone’s response to this was that you are racist xD

At this point, honestly, I think the only landing place that makes sense for Cam Newton...is Carolina.

Sure they parted ways on terrible terms, but now that he's seen his value in the market, and perhaps understands the realities of his situation, maybe both sides can put down their swords and agree to a one-year deal.

I know it would probably never happen. But if you think about it, it's a win for everyone.

The Panthers get a former MVP QB at bargain basement price and don't have to start their new era turning the reins over to a new QB.

Cam gets a paycheck, and game time to prove he's healthy so he's got more value a year from now.

Teddy earns rock star money for sitting on the bench.

If things work out great, you can extend Cam. If they don't, we draft the QB of the future as we always planned and Cam can enter a QB market that is potentially looking for more starters. (You think Brady is playing more than 1 year in Tampa?)

That bridge has burned. 0% chance

What just happened to Andy Dalton (and Cam) isn't unusual.

The NFL is a "What have you done for me lately?" business.

Not sure why so many here have a hard time understanding that.

It was a culmination of things as far as our fanbase goes. For one, he was the first superstar QB this team has ever had. Losing him was uncharted waters for the fanbase. And secondly, people took the Cam situation and politicized it throughout his entire career. If you didn’t want to extend Cam then you were obviously a racist. That’s what people started boiling it down to.

But it’s hard to accuse the entire league of being racist now as nobody is signing him. The reality is, I wanted Cam to finish his last year here. But I certainly didn’t want to extend him. At the end of the day, Cam is likely going to have to accept a 1 year deal if he wants to play football this season. He hasn’t been healthy for three seasons now. Nobody is committing their future to him under those circumstances. As you say, it’s not unusual. But between losing our first superstar QB and making Cam a racism detector, this fanbase lost all sense of the situation and couldn’t see things objectively

I understand that. I'm just saying it's the only place that makes sense anymore. Where else could he go where he has a legitimate chance at starting?

Maybe 2-3 teams but as I just posted, he only gets that chance if he signs a one year deal. If he’s holding out for a multi year contract, he’s gonna be waiting on that the rest of his career imo. Nobody is gonna commit to him long term until he proves his health.
