Did Rhule lie about Newton?

i don't think this was a decision made by Rhule .  Tepper made this decision knowing a lot of Cam fans would be butt hurt  .  Rhule had to say what he said because Tepper is his boss .  There is a reason Cam has not been signed by a team yet even thought Winston has found a team . We may never know all the details .  I wish Cam well , but both sides  did not handle this well .

Maybe they knew Cam was finished playing at a high level......I have said that for a long time. The guy has lost his running threat and is a below average pocket QB without the running threat. It won't surprise me if he never plays another down of NFL football.

What makes it worse is the Bridgewater signing. He’s not in Cams league. And I believe that to be true no matter the system. That’s where I think Rhule, Brady, and Tepper were naive if not biased against Cam. I wouldn’t go as far to say they bought into false narratives about him. But there was an obvious disconnect between him and new regime. Those false narratives are true for the rest of the league though. He’s being black balled right now and it’s bs.

I agree with the bolded part of your post. I still can't believe that they replaced Cam Newton with Teddy Bridgewater and expect fans to be excited for the upcoming season. If you're going to move on from Cam, replace him with someone better than him. Bridgewater is not an upgrade at all. Good luck filling up those stands.

Now, I don't agree with you about Cam being blackballed. I honestly think he's in negotiations and wants to be a starter, but he may have to settle on being a backup at the moment to stay in the NFL.

Lie?  No.

Mislead?  Yes.

People hear what they want to hear.  When Matt said "I look forward to coaching Cam Newton", he meant that...like any coach would.  Would Pete Carrol love to coach Cam Newton?  Hell yea he would.  Does that mean Cam would start over Russ?  Hell no....but Pete didn't lie, he just said that he would love to coach that guy.

It's called getting sold to.  If Matt said "Cam Newton is going to start for this team day 1", and then cut him, that's a lie...outright.

Warned you guys to be real careful interpreting Tepper and Matts words when they were talking about Cam...they were intentionally dancing around the questions.

It will be very interesting to see who accomplishes more on the NFL over the next 5-years --- Teddy or Cam?

I was a strong advocate for bringing Cam back and worry there is something else we dont yet know about that is keeping other teams from showing interest.

Cleary the 5-year comparison hinges on Cam being able to get back into the league.

i don't see where he (or tepper) lied about anything.

ultimately, fans on both sides heard what they wanted to hear.

Tepper has said "We want to win a Superbowl with Cam Newton". That was the company line for a while, yet on the other hand they leaked their true intentions to the media.

Definition of two faced.

See, here's an example of hearing what you want to hear.

Tepper didn't say that.

What he actually said was that "in an ideal world" we'd be winning Super Bowls with Cam Newton, but he further went on to say that nothing was determined yet and as usual invoke the "if healthy" phrase he said in every other setting.

All this was recorded at Tepper's "don't quote me" meeting with reporters back in December.
