Did Rhule lie about Newton?

This discussion has come up again recently in a couple of threads.

My take has been that while he engaged in coachspeak and very flexible "politician" style language, Rhule stopped short of telling an outright lie. And for the record, the same can be said of Tepper.

But I know a lot of folks disagree with that idea. Some branded Rhule as a lying sack of sh-t (Tepper too) and made it quite clear that they wouldn't take anything he said in the future at face value again.

So I'm curious, where do you stand?

Were Rhule and Tepper just doing what football guys do, or was this a violation of the fans' trust?

You tell me.

People have confirmation bias. It was only a matter of time before a decision in the new Rhule/Tepper era would make fans mad.

I believe they’ve been genuine. I also hate that Newton was released..BUT understand why. Teddy Bridgewater is probably a better fit for what Joe Brady wants to run.

I also might add..if we didn’t want to see our fan favorites be released then our team should have won more games. Ron and company seemed pretty comfortable in a mediocre setting (outside of 2015-2016 season). Moves like this tend to shake things up and provide motivation for better or worse.

First, I don't believe Tepper or Rhule ever had any intentions of bringing Cam back. It's a culture change move. Just say that and move on. I may not have liked it, but I would have respected it more. With that being said, yes Rhule lied. Flat out.

Second, why do some of us think it was necessary to be coy and dishonest? Lying is not standard operating procedure. Nothing was ever to be gained or lost from being straight forward from the beginning.

My guess? Rhule is more aware and skillful in coach-speak and politics than we have seen from Fox and Rivera. It was a bad look because of how it was handled by Tepper and Hurney rather than saying that from the beginning and not directly before not being able to trade and then releasing Cam. That was a bad look but I have no idea how much and the dynamics of what really went down and why.

Trust has to be earned and he had a nice draft but has a ton to prove before I trust him. I hope he does amazing and overcomes the issues we have had as a franchise. It's going to take some time and I'm happy to see what he can do.

John Fox and Ron were basically clones.

Both military kids.  Raised in the same era.  Played football in the same era.  Coached their teams the same way.  Handled the world outside the locker room the same way.

Rhule is gonna be different.

Stop being wishy-washy.

They lied.

Rhule lied.

Hurney lied.

Tepper hard-core lied.

You yourself have pointed it out before... teams fugging lie.

Stop equivocating ex post facto.

They fugging lied.  And my boy Cam (along with myself) was a damn fool for ever believing them for a millisecond (Cam from naivety, me from hopefulness cuz at my age I should have known better).

Rhule is new and is perfectly willing to do whatever he can to impress the boss.

 Hurney is a yes-man.

Tepper is a goddam disease.

Are you waiting until Cam is signed by another team before you leave or....?

Thank you, @Mr Mojo Risin for your response to my post!

Unfortunately, the white-shirt, bow-tied, Company Mail Boys are reacting poorly to my post, lol.

I don't let the people who follow this team blindly like sheep get to me. And just about everyone of them poo'd your post it's actually hilarious I'm sure the rest will be on their way shortly.

I don't care what anyone says. The entire FO handled this as badly as any other organization could have. They lied. End of story. Whether that means you continue to support the dunces (Rhule, Hurney, and Tepper) well that's up to you and your character as a person/fan

I was here for the 2009-2010 season and even then I didn't feel as detached from this team as I do now. I'll still be watching but from a distance, a very far distance.
