Did Rhule lie about Newton?

I said the fair thing to do AFTER f'n up like Tepper did was to at least allow Cam to compete in training camp, best man wins AND a Cam playing and healthy has HUGE trade value but ego and hubris won over.

That would have been far more entertaining AND fair and just.

The only way to get Cam to play this year for the Panthers was with a contract extension. That wasn't going to happen because we weren't sure he could stay healthy, so we weren't going to pay him what he wanted.

If we had extended him, and he got hurt again, we'd be sitting on a horrible contract for a QB that was basically dead weight and had no trade value.

Then why not hold him to that contract? Make HIM the a-hole?

He f'd up. You guys need to accept that.

I'm hoping this explanation includes information and dates surrounding surgeries, Covid-19, statements to the media, Cam's ability to receive and pass a physical, injury settlements, cap space vs. dead cap, games started over the past 2 seasons....etc...

All of that needs to be in the breakdown of how the Panthers "F'd" over Cam Newton.

Notice the overwhelming silence lol. Cam is my 4th favorite Panther ever and I hate how things ended but I knew it was likely time to move on.

Now all these Cam first Panther fans are having a miserable go at continuing to defend their narrative. To them it was obvious Cam was still a top 5 QB in the league and anyone who wanted him gone was racist.

But suddenly the team signs another Teddy B and the racist argument is defeated as most of us were pretty cool with the signing. He’s not elite or exciting, but I’m certainly a fan of Teddy and if race had anything to do with Cam getting cut then TB wouldn’t have been his replacement.

Then the most average of QBs are signed ahead of Cam with multiple teams stating they were never really interested in him. This isn’t because he’s not good when healthy. It’s more to do with the fact he’s not been healthy in three years. But their top 5 QB argument is also down the drain.

So now? They have to make up some insane story that the entire league got together to blackball Cam Newton because... nobody actually even knows why. It would be the most odd conspiracy in league history and these dudes keep blabbering on about “operation blackball” like it’s fact.

This is why the sensible posters such as ourselves started getting absurdly annoyed at the Cam first crowed. They have been the illogical group this whole time but any objections to them was thrown back in your face as racism. Now, with both of their narratives incinerated, they are pretty dazed and confused

I don’t know that there is a ‘Cam first’  group.

PSL owner for a very long time. He made the price of those a lot easier to bear  after Frank Reich, Kerry Collins Jim Harbaugh, Brian st Pierre, Chris Weinke, Steven beurline,  vinny, Jeff Lewis, jimmy clausen ,  Rodney Peete.  Stefan leflore  the list is long    Jake gave a little respite

newton deserved and earned better treatment. He didn’t get it. Reasons don’t matter anymore

but, I will say two things

1. Other nfl stars will remember  how Newton was treated during free agency

2. I would say, no offense to anyone, but  Teddy is probably a bit more acceptable than Cam to some on this board.  He makes no waves

Again. I love Cam. He’s actually the only player I own a jersey of from the last era. But regardless, he couldn’t stay healthy. And everyone around here was fast to accuse the worst of someone if they agreed it was time to move on from Cam if he wanted an extension.

You can check my post history if it matters to you. I was hoping Cam would play the rest of his contract out, prove his health and we could make a decision based on this year. But I understood the cut. I didn’t love it but I get it. But we had people claiming we could trade him for at least a first round pick. Dude isn’t even getting signed as a FA. Some of this board is in serious denial

Tepper told the media "We want to win a Superbowl with Cam Newton", actual words. HE said that. He then went on a whisper campaign leaking to the media that Cam was out and also PUBLICLY put Cams health into question directly BEFORE free agency and trade time.

That's a cool story...except for the fact that none of it actually happened.

Tepper didn't say that he wanted to win a Super Bowl with Cam Newton. He said that in an ideal world, they'd be winning Super Bowls, but obviously this isn't a perfect world and Tepper always added "if healthy" every time he talked about Newton.

The person who actually said something close to what you're misquoting Tepper on is Matt Rhule, who said "we plan" to win a Super Bowl with him. Again, that's flexible language that allows you to hear what you want to hear, even if it's not what he actually said.

And no, there wasn't any whisper campaign and Newton isn't being blackballed from the NFL. That's all just tinfoil hat silliness.

Tepper is taking applications for yes men. You'd be perfect for the job.

And the National Enquirer is looking for reporters. You should probably apply.

It doesn't help your credibility to make stuff up.
