Random question.... if it's decided that Burns will be our DE, any chance he gives up the 53 for a number in the 90s? It's also not uncommon to see a LB wear a number in the 90s.

Current players predraft have already changed their numbers. Burns kept 53. You’re only as good as your 53rd man on the roster

Burns didn’t keep 53.   It was given to him.

What the heck are you talking about. He had the chance to switch number. He stayed with 53. Miller switched to 55. Cmon doyal

Wrong.  Miller was given 55.

MMA is correct. Burns picked 53 lasy year because he loves Spider-Man and 5 + 3 is 8, the number of legs spiders have. Miller chose 50 lady year and then switched to 55 this year.

The Ringer did a good article about the transition from jersey numbers in the 80s to the teens for WRs. Apparently our very own Keyshawn Johnson was the (modern) trendsetter. He got assigned 19 in rookie camp because all the 80s on the roster were already taken. Despite the NFL not updating the uniform code until almost a decade later, he was allowed to keep it.

Not sure they cared much back in the day.   I think, at one time, Tackles were supposed to wear 70 numbers, 60 numbers for guards, and 50s to centers and LBs.....Not sure if that was rule or just a practice.
