As good as Cox? El oh el. Cox engineered the Eagles defense to a Super Bowl championship. What the freak. Just stop it. If Short was a Buc, Saint or Con, you’d be talking of how overpaid he is.

Reading the nonsense from most of you arm chair GMs is priceless. Yes KK hasn’t performed as well as he did when he was paired with Star. He also hasn’t been fully healthy for a few years also. His sack numbers haven’t been astronomical but has the teams overall sack numbers been terrible? He got noticed by the league and gameplaned for so he was expected to not perform statistically as well but he still made the opponent ensure he was subdued as well as they could. In 93 games played and 73 games started KK has 32.5 sacks and 59 TFL, Fletcher Cox in 125 games played and 119 games started he has 48 sacks and 62 TFL. If we are talking about efficiency here KK has the edge. If we delve deeper and compare the QB hits in the same time frame Fletcher has 121 and KK has 87. Correlating that to the amount of games each has played they are roughly on par with one  another with Fletcher having the slight edge to getting to the QB more consistently but then KK has the advantage with converting sacks. I’m not trying to sound biased but taking what talent we have surrounded KK with compared to Fletcher I’d say KK did more with less. Fletcher has the more well rounded stats but I feel his defense has had more consistent success than ours since 2015. The reason I choose 2015 is that is the year short started a full season. Differing opinions and technicalities could lead this conversation back and forth but what I’m getting at is stat wise KK has deserved top 3 DT money and has put up the numbers. He can’t be faulted for what he doesn’t have control over. This year we will see if he is in our future plans but cutting him now to save roughly 10 mil doesn’t make sense. We wouldn’t be able to use that money to significantly get better this year so it’s best spent on a familiar player.
