We can’t cut him now.  I can guarantee you, he will get cut after this year.  Gerald McCoy is 32 and will make on average of $6M a year for next to years.  No way KK is getting 21M.

Lot of things can happen.

 

Dude missed this year with the torn rotator cuff.

Played the year before terribly but was on the injury report every week because................a Shoulder.  But people quickly point that he was just getting lazy after his big contract and quickly brushed off the people who pointed him on the injury report.   The year prior, statistically, he was as good as any DT not named Aaron Donald, and this was right after he signed.

 

IMO if he is healthy, the dude may look close to his old self.

Another thing to remember.  He will only have 1 more year on his deal afyer this year.  At his age they could extend him out on a vet home friendly deal to dampen the ammount he'll be making.

 

We've seen this before with guys like Addison.

Wishful thinking. He was done balling out after 2015. Short has always been a guy that was questioned about effort since his days at Purdue. The reason he fell into the 2nd. Effort is one thing you can’t teach not just to football players but people in general.

If not for his dead money, he’d be cut this year. His contract structure is terrible.

He had 6 sacks in 2016 and 7.5 in 2017.  Along with over 40 tackles every year.  Thats good numbers for a DT

McCoy (32) signed a 3yr/18.3m and Dontari (29) got a 2yr/8.5m from the Cowboys. Linval Joseph (31) got a 2yr/17m from the Chargers. Short (31) is making a ridiculous amount of money. Short isn’t a Fletcher Cox who’s is making plays and 2 years younger. And Cox is only making 1m more per year than Short.

Fletcher Cox- 5.5 sack, 5 TFL, 1 FF, 17 QB hits

KK- 7.5 sacks, 7 TFL, 2 FF, 17 QB hits.

2018

KK played poorly, but was on the injury report all season and he even missed 2 games that. (Still had 14 TFL which was 4th in the NFL despite playing only 14 games)

 

2019

Played 2 games, ended due to, torn rotator cuff (a Shoulder injury)

He is better than McCoy and Poe, and as good as Cox.  You guys just love to hate the Panthers, its rediculous the things you make up

As good as Cox? El oh el. Cox engineered the Eagles defense to a Super Bowl championship. What the freak. Just stop it. If Short was a Buc, Saint or Con, you’d be talking of how overpaid he is.
