I'm gonna cut you off right there. If you trace back through this thread, you will find me saying , very plainly, that offensive tackles aren't worth a top 5 pick.

I expanded the criteria to Top 10, against my own interests, expanding past even beyond my own convictions, for your benefit. There is a much bigger window for your to pull from here now, and yet you've still refused to lay out the names.

 And we both know why.

The only other criteria has been the obvious assertion

A)  that the players are actually good

B) and the since dropped, again, to your benefit, standard that they were playing for the team that drafted them when they won, which I could've fairly held on to given that a quality team picking up a player in free agency is no commentary on the value of drafting certain positions where.

The argument hasn't changed. The bar is low, and yet you still refuse to post the names.

And we both know why.

Well post 'em up there my guy. You seem to have everything you need.

Also, do Pro Bowler Super Bowl winners not count as good enough? Asking for a friend.

Since 2000, 33 OL have been drafted in the top 10. Of those 33, 19 were drafted in the top 5. The NFL clearly disagrees with this notion that drafting an OT in the top 5 is a ridiculous concept.

Right?

And look, I'm not CRAZY about it; it's not a sexy pick, it doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

But you know what's awesome? Your Pro Bowl level QB tossing dimes out of a clean pocket all season long and deep into the playoffs every year, giving you chance after chance for a that elusive Super Bowl.

lol this is textbook field for the trees

The buccaneers have drafted a Kicker in the 2nd round. There are still teams using top 10 picks on iOL

At no point has anything in this thread centered around who or what is being taken.

But you've already threatened to do so. Youve already said plainly that you spent time looking them up, with the intent to post them, which would tear me limb from limb.

And then you looked them up.

And are now too scared to post them, and are trying to retrofit this argument into some inane commentary on draft "sexiness," clearly believing that the people here have never been on the internet before and can't see what it is youre trying to do.

Post the names. You threatened to after all.

I appreciate all that you said except the first sentence. Statistically, half in one(two) rounds is significant. Its the same thing with college star rankings. Half of the non-five star guys end up in the NFL, but youd still be a better guesser  by only going five star if its 6/10. Its 50-50 ish but one of those comes from a much smaller sample size, indicating a better hit rate.

To reiterate, I'm contrasting the value of top 5 and eventually top 10 picks against the inherent value of more impactful positions that are available and expected in that range.

I think a bunch of debates could actually be made on the most efficient spot for finding OL, but I'm not comparing them in a vacuum, I'm contrasting them against the rare opportunity of acquiring a more valuable position on the field that high in the draft.

The issue this presents for so many is the general belief that Offensive Tackles are so important simply because they are: because NFL jingoisms on hog mollies and Pounding The Rock say that it is so, regardless of how the game may have changed.

I'm just laughing at how dug in you are on a completely ridiculous concept.

What you're doing is vomiting out generic insults, moderator, because you were too lazy to read the discussion as a whole and thought your softball stat which would hilariously render you incapable of criticizing anything the team does ever again (afterall, if the Professionals are doing it, it's above criticism) would quickly put dissent to rest.

Do you actually expect to be taken seriously or are you just arguing for the sake of argument? Serious question.

I don't think I've "vomited out" any "generic insults" toward you, but damn man, you sure are letting them fly toward anyone and everyone with a differing opinion.

Don’t worry too much about that immature moderator. Apparently he’s still drunk from the draft weekend. Taking shots at myself and a few others for days now. And then when he gets girly pissy about it, he threatens to ban us. How did the guy even it a moderator job is beyond me. He’s a real classy guy.

Unless madwolf can actually muster up a list of names of recent top 10 OTs who led their team to super bowl glory, my argument doesn't need any curmudgeonly cliche ridden football types endorsing it for it to be taken seriously
