Using a top 5 pick on an OT is the biggest over investment in the draft

lol at "it's alright if we have average QB play, so long as weve got a franchise tackle"

Nothing like watching the #1 overall QB, and generational talent of your Franchise get his brains bashed in for 8 straight years, and then have such injury concerns that we cut him instead of extending his contract at the age of 31.

But you know, don't need a good LT.

The one year he had a slightly above average line he was the God damn NFL MVP and we still didnt try to build our oline.  I will say it for the 100th time.  I like the Brown pick.  I think Simmons will be more exciting but what we should have done is drafted a damn tackle at 7.

Not properly addressing our OT situation got the hell beaten out of Cam Newton and Andrew Luck. Two guys who should be the faces of the NFL right now.

the colts have Been Throwback Football Internet Poster's dream team, theyve wasted two picks on interior linemen, including a top 10 pick on one.

MASSIVE MAN MOVERS haven't been enough to elevate their franchise because the game has changed.

in fact I believe one of you accidentally admitted last time we had this discussion that you couldn't find any recent example of an offensive lineman being drafted top 10 and then going on to win a super bowl with that team.

L-O-L at equating not using a Top 5 pick on a lineman to "not protecting your QB."

lol, I knew it was you, how many times are you going to get baited into this exact pit

what you've just posted here is a comprehensive list of players taken from all over the draft-or not drafted in it at all, and the one player who would actually fit the criteria is a bust, undermining the "sure thing" delusion that so often accompanies this argument.

how is 6/10 of the starting lineups in the first two rounds "players taken from all over the draft"? i'm not saying we need to go for a guy at 3 or 4, but taking a first round tackle (if your scouting isnt dogpoo) is not a bad investment.

6/10 is just over half, offering no real disparity between the first round & those taken later, and assuming madwolf had the right players listed last time he got sucked into this, the number is more or less prone to treading water or dipping, especially if you start including players who weren't playing for the team that drafted them when they managed to ride somebody's coattails to the super bowl, as madwolf was so gracious enough to accidentally point out last time

of course im not even saying that offensive lineman aren't worth 2nd rounders or even 1st rounders-im saying they don't elevate your team in a way that other marquee positions found in the top 10 can. The assertion that I'm proclaiming all linemen should be claimed out of UDFA is fabricated because the evidence against my real point is scant.

Just let him go, it's entertaining. Literally used 1 Super Bowl instead of the last 10, and he's already wrong.

But you know... it's fun to watch him do his little mental gymnastics.

I too would deflect if i spent half an hour combing through super bowl teams and couldn't find a single one to substantiate my claim.
