WOW!!

Derrick Brown:

Hated the pick on draft night. Didn’t believe that Brown alone could change the direction of this team. After the 1st round, I saw that Yetur and Epenesa we’re still available. Immediate starter.

Yetur Gross Matos:

Loved the pick and made me enjoy the Derrick Brown selection. Most excited I’ve been since Star feel down to us. Yetur and Brown + Burns will all be future pro bowlers/all pros. Starter in 1-2 year.

Jeremy Chinn:

Didnt like the trade up but the kid will be special. Size, athleticism and speed. The whole package. Will probably be our best safety since Mike Minter. Possible future pro bowler and a starter in 1-2 year.

Troy Pride:

Wasnt much a fan of the pick because a couple guys I wanted were still available. Don’t know much about Pride but I love his size. Keep hearing that he’s a fast guy so I’ll see. A lengthy corner to compete with the NFCS receivers. Possible future starter.

Kenny Robinson:

Same like Pride. I like the size and athleticism. Possible future starter. Boom or bust.

Bravvion Roy:

Love the size and that he’s a former Rhule’s guy. So I expect the kid to be coachable and already bought into the system. Will probably never be a starter but potential to be a backup contributor like Love and Dwan Edwards with a lot of playing time.

Stantley Thomas-Oliver:

Clueless about the kid but I like the selection. Another tall lengthy corner to compete with the NFCS receivers. Will be a ST player to start if lucky. Not expecting much with a pick this late. Would love to be wrong.

Loved the draft, we got two first rounders essentially, and another boarder line first rounder as well. We're probably coming out of this draft with at minimum three starters on defense and a couple of guys that have a chance to be in that role in a season or two or at worst solid special teams players.

Really like this draft on the surface, and toss in some cap space to sign a nice FA or two and the defense could be mean in a couple of years.

Would've liked a little love on the OL, but also fine going all in on defense now when the offense should be our bread and butter.  Get a big nucleus of young guys on one side of the ball to learn together.  Next year can be our offense draft, where we trade every pick we have to move up for our QB.

We got Bowden as an UDFA. Could provide some help at Guard.

I think we didn't reach, took the best player on D that they wanted. While I didn't love the trade up to get Chinn, I like that he's Simmons lite and that we got the guy we wanted by only giving up a 5th.

But by far, the #1 thing I like about this draft is that we didn't panic and trade away any future draft picks.  I hated when Hurney used to do that (see Otah, Jeff).

One word...

Awesome.

(And, as I pointed out in another thread, I'm still pissed at Rhule and was perfectly ready to throw him under the bus and back up and run over him again and back up and run over him again, repeat, etc.)

Why?

I love how we had a plan and went after it. I heard Coach Rhule say we picked up three high impact players and everyone else we picked appear to have a shot at contributing at some point. This was our best draft in a long time. I know we’re not a playoff team next year but I’m buying into the plan our new Coach and old GM have laid out.

I didn’t like the trade up either but love Chinn. I’m pretty sure someone took a safety after we had moved up and for all we know they would’ve taken Chinn. I’m excited about our first three picks but can’t decide if I’m more excited about Brown or Chinn. This may have been the one time I’m glad Marty moved up.

Love it. Wasn’t familiar with our last four picks, but we needed defense.

All four of those guys fit a physical profile and are high upside guys. They have a chance with good coaching. That’s all we can ask with third day picks.

I’ll let you know in 1-2 years...I’m not exactly sure what you go off of saying you love this draft or we did well...value maybe? Hurney not being an idiot? I mean yea ok

Hopefully by then the Panthers aren’t still ignoring the oline...we’d be breaking status quo’s competing with an oline consistently in the bottom half of the NFL...like it hasn’t happened in over a decade...that’s pretty damn cocky

quite a feat... I’m curious how exactly they plan to do it after no one else ever has and even more so how they can be that confident. I guess they still have time to address it, just weird they didn’t in the best oline draft for years
