How the hell did he enter the draft after going pro on the XFL? Doesn’t make any sense. Why didn’t we just signed him. We did with Walker

but Rhule is clearly building a very tall secondary

Rules for entering draft are at least 2 years removed from high school.  The traditional route is to go college but you can do whatever you want for 2 years then go pro.  Why would he choose to enter the draft instead of free agency?  Money.

Actually i believe the rule is 3 years removed from HS in the NFL

This seems a tad risky to bring in a questionable character guy on a team with new coaching staff that just gutted all it's veteran leadership. Who is gonna keep this guy on the straght and narrow?  If it works great, if it doesn't you potentially have a locker room problem or a distraction. Maybe make Derrick Brown his rookie camp/training camp roomie, since he's notably high character...

Kid has good character. He made a mistake (mom had a stoke and had a friend complete an online assignment for him), and owned it. I’m a fan. He seems hungry. And you can’t teach that. That’s ambition.

Read the article that was posted just above your comment. He seems like a great dude who made a mistake.

I don't know what our defensive scheme is going to look like. I'm just glad we're drafting athletic DBs with range. In the past, far too often we've drafted DBs that aren't up to par with NFL standards of athleticism and speed. Josh Norman is pretty much the only one of those guys who actually ended up working out for us.

I think we're probably going to run a zone blitz scheme, but I'm not certain about that.

For everyone saying character issues, am I missing something beyond just getting caught cheating in college?

Because if that's all of the "character" issues then drop that mess right now.  If you didn't cheat in school at some point you're an absolute liar.

It's great the way you rationalize academic fraud by accusing literally everyone of something you claim to be equivalent. Let's not pretend that cheating in school to the degree detailed is a trivial thing that should be dismissed. Kenny himself admits his own wrongdoing and that it was a serious error in judgement. That shows character and accountability.

A young child or even a middle schooler cheating is not the same as a college student who is effectively an adult and should have a greater understanding of right and wrong as well as ethics and personal accountability. Your argument not only makes an unfounded and unproveable false assumption, it's a false equivalency to boot.

People make mistakes and are human. The letter seems to be admission of a serious error in judgement and ownership of that decision. It's completely unnecessary for you to accuse literally everyone else of lying to defend with rationalization something the young man in question isn't defending himself.

Let's all just give the young man some leeway as a fallible human being without needlessly pointing fingers at each other for no reason, shall we?

I don't think a lot of people realize that for a lot of these prospects, college was just a necessary evil. They were there majoring in football.

We all made mistakes and bad choices when we were young, and I am no exception. But you are wrong about this. I didn't cheat in school at any level, and saying "everybody does it" is lame. Having said that I am OK with this pick. He seems sincerely sorry for cheating, and there are players with a lot darker histories in the NFL.

His tape shows great ball hawk skills, like the scout who called him a "lion in the tall grass" that would see everything in front of him = classic center fielder who won't be late to help like the safeties of our past 25 years.

He wasn't much of a threat after INT but you have to have had an INT for that to be noted.
