Why does college vs XFL matter? Is it more the fact he was kicked out of college, or does which league he played in last year actually make a difference?

A little of both. You get dinged for character marks, and then you get dinged for the competition level which makes it inherently harder to scout you.

Is the competition level in the XFL really worse? Pretty much all of those players made it to the NFL at some point (even if just offseason/practice squad). Nobody who could last in the NFL, yes but the absolute worst XFL player is still better than most college players who never even sniff the NFL. Yes college obviously has guys who go on to be NFL stars but overall I’d think the XFL is pretty close, if not better than college...

Read the letter he sent.

His mom was suffering through a stroke and cancers. He was back and forth between college and home for her.  He got behind and asked a friend to do one assignment for him.   The fact that WVU expelled him for that with 99% if the crap that players get away with is an embarrassment to WVU

It's not that close to college. NFL >>> College >> XFL >> Arena

Nice attempt at throwing us off the scent by leaving a few grammar inaccuracies in there, but it's obvious he payed someone else to write this.

I kid because I love. XXOO ; )

Probably the same friend who turned in his assignments for him. :shades:

1. We are not hiring English teachers.

2. Picture Nakamura circling under what should have been an INT against the Falcons and be thankful we got someone who can actually tack a ball past 10 yards.

I read it. I understand giving him the benefit of the doubt but there are two sides to every story. Colleges don’t just flat out expel students for having someone else do one assignment for them, especially with the situation with his mom. There’s definitely more to it. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he’s learned from past mistakes, but cheating in college isn’t something to just brush aside. It has to be taken into consideration. I’m sure the team (who’s actually talked to them and done their HW) knows more than us and I’ll trust them here but let’s not act like this kid is a saint. There’s some risk to this that he won’t work out. I love the player and taking the risk and personally don’t have much issue with whatever he did but it’s not nothing.

For everyone saying character issues, am I missing something beyond just getting caught cheating in college?

Because if that's all of the "character" issues then drop that mess right now.  If you didn't cheat in school at some point you're an absolute liar.

Yeah I know. Just clownin. I'm on the record earlier in the thread stating that I could not care less about academic problems from a college athlete.
