STRENGTHS

—Two-year starter at outside cornerback who has good size (5'11", 193 lbs) and man-coverage skills.

—Checks all the boxes when it comes to height, length, speed and overall size.

—All-around athlete who excels in change-of-direction situations and has the long speed to run with receivers down the field.

—Has the size and quickness to come up to play the ball in a zone scheme; uses his length well to be a disruptor.

—Good read-and-react skills to diagnose the play and get involved in the passing game.

WEAKNESSES

—Awareness looks to be subpar given his struggles to stay with routes.

—Doesn't track the ball well and had limited production in college.

—Doesn't play with physicality at the catch point.

—Lets receivers run past him despite having the size and speed to run with the best of the best.

—Gives up so much space to receivers during the route.

OVERALL

Pride's athleticism gives him NFL-starter potential, but his awareness and instincts will prevent him from getting on the field right away. He has the physical traits to develop and could surprise and become an early-career starter, but he has to clean up his technique down the field to live up to his potential.

GRADE: 64

PRO COMPARISON: Kareem Jackson/D.J. Hayden

ESPN lists him as 6’0 193 lbs.

Which is exactly what I suggested that they would do weeks ago! It just made too much sense! And it really should give people a certain amount of comfort that we're not in any way building this team willy nilly. There's been a lot of thought into this whole process!

I agree 100% but like I have said all day, but by doing it this way we are writing a check on the offensive line that is going to get cashed next season.  we are not doing ourselves any favors in building that up.  Bridgewater is going to take a beating for a couple of seasons.

This draft doesn't seem much like Hurney. All seem solid players.  I wonder if some of those odd picks were Rivera.

Hurney is the designated driver---Rhule, Snow, and Brady are in the back seat telling him where to go/

He is certainly fast (track star), and confident in his speed, but these are too many weaknesses to think he could start.  Will need a lot of smart coaching.

Former Notre Dame cornerback Troy Pride Jr. is going to give Panthers corner Donte Jackson and wide receiver Curtis Samuel a run for their money as the fasted player on the team. His fastest 40 time on record is 4.28 seconds. He says he would have posted a time of 4.3 seconds instead of the 4.4 he had at the combine nine out of 10 times. “I'm a competitive beats,'' Pride said. “My will to win is higher than a lot of individuals.''

While Panthers fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. grew up only a few hours away from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, he didn't grow up a fan of the Carolina's NFL team. “I rooted for them in their Super Bowl runs with Jake Delhomme and Cam Newton. There was a time when I was awarded tickets to a game.'' But no, he wasn't a Panthers. Fan. He will become one now. He ended his Zoom call with “Keep Pounding.'' “I've got to get used to saying that,'' Pride said.

True, hopefully this is something that Rhule can bring into our program as advertised.

You could be right...but, I hope you're wrong!

There are a few serviceable FAs available, not to mention the preseason cut-down! Personally, I haven't given up on either Daley or Little, as it's only their second year from a skills standpoint, but Little's concussions are concerning!

I see our line as serviceable, mainly JAGs until proven otherwise, but that's OK considering...I suspect they'll be middle of the pack.

As for Teddy, he gets the ball out quicker than Cam, which should continue considering he's already familiar with Brady's offense! I don't think he's inclined to take a beating. It won't be perfect, but it never is. He'll eat some dirt, don't get me wrong, but I suspect that his skill set as well as Brady's schemes will minimize that.
