According to Pro Football Focus, Pride faced 175 targets over his college career and allowed only five catches of 25 or more yards.

He was a track standout in both high school and early on in his college career and with building momentum arrived at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He was lauded for his showing there as well although he was disappointed in his 4.4 in the 40-yard dash despite it being fourth fastest among cornerbacks. He had hoped to shave a bit off that at Notre Dame’s pro day last month before it was canceled due to the coronavirus spread.

 

Pride was intent on showing pro scouts his physicality and his ability to tackle and take on blocks were as much a part of his game as his speed.

“There’s absolutely stuff I need to get better on, but I just wanted to show I was of the best at the combine and I showed that and it will be evident here soon,” Pride said.

NFL.com listed Pride as one of six “winners” from the March 1st final day of the combine that featured corners and safeties, saying “Scouts likely weren’t thrilled with his senior year tape, however his work at the Senior Bowl and combine may have helped him get back in their good graces. His athleticism was on full display.”

Great pick!! Rhule is killing this draft so far Troy Pride is a speedster and a fluid athlete. This draft is plugging holes with athletes with proven production. Keep pounding baby!!

Why this seems more like a Rhule pick then a Marty pick. Marty seemed to always go with who we meet with Rhule went with the best athletic prospect who we can mild into the player we want not covert into something they aren’t.
